3 Types of Diplomas(p. 3)  Regular Diploma  Earn the required credits  Satisfactory records of attendance and conduct  Graduation with Honors  In addition to regular diploma requirements  Score at or above ACT college readiness benchmarks for each subject area  English: 18; Math: 22; Reading: 21; Science: 24  Graduating with Distinction  In addition to regular diploma requirements  Must have at least a B average and complete at least one of the following:

4 Types of Diplomas, continued  Graduating with Distinction  In addition to regular diploma requirements  Must have at least a B average and complete at least one of the following: Earn a nationally recognized industry certification Participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools Participate in one of the state’s All State musical organizations Be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist Attain a composite score of 31 or higher on ACT Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two Advanced Placement exams Successfully complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Earn 12 or more semester hours of transcripted post-secondary credit

5 Graduation Requirements  Minimum 22 credits  Must complete16 Ready Core Curriculum Credits AND 2 of the following:  University Preparation Focus  Humanities Focus  Fine Arts Focus  Math & Science (STEM) Focus  Technical Focus: Choice(s) of interest areas

6 Ready Core Curriculum: Math  4 credits required  Minimum of one math credit per year of high school  Algebra I  Geometry  Algebra II  Other Math Bridge (ACT Math score below 19) Finite (ACT score 19 to 22 recommended) STEM (22 and above recommended)

7 9 th Grade Math Requirement  In order to enroll in Algebra I, student must have a minimum 16 on the Math portion of Explore AND have a 50% or greater change of obtaining a score of PROFICIENT on the Algebra I End-of-Course test as reported by Tennessee Value Added Assessment System (TVAAS)  Students who fail ONE of these criteria will be allowed to enroll in Algebra I if they have an average of 80 or greater in 8 th grade math AND it is deemed in the best interest of the student  Students who fail BOTH of these criteria will be enrolled in a 2-hour block of Foundations II and Algebra I. They will receive an elective credit only for Foundations II and math credit for Algebra I. They will still take the Algebra I End of Course test in May

8 Ready Core Curriculum: English  English I  English II  English III  English IV  In order to enroll in Honors English I, a student must earn an average of 18 on their English and Reading scores on the EXPLORE test AND have a 75% or greater chance of obtaining a rating of PROFICIENT on the English I EOC as reported by TVAAS

9 Ready Core Curriculum: Science  Physical Science  Biology I  Chemistry I  Required in the listed sequence  In order to enroll in Biology I, a student must earn an average of 20 on their Science and Math scores on the EXPLORE test AND have a 60% or greater chance of obtaining a rating of PROFICIENT on the Biology I EOC as reported by TVAAS

10 Ready Core Curriculum: Social Studies  World Geography or World History  ½ Credit of Economics  ½ Credit of U.S. Government  U.S. History

11 Ready Core Curriculum: Other requirements  Wellness  PE (½ credit)  Personal Finance (½ credit)

12 Additional Requirements: Students Planning on Attending a University  Foreign Language (2 credits)  Fine Arts (1 credit)  Elective Focus (3 credits from one area)  Math & Science Focus  Humanities Focus  Fine Arts Focus  Career and Technical Focus

13 Additional Requirements: Students not Planning on Attending a University  Elective Focus  3 credits from one focus area  Expanded Focus  3 credits from another focus area

14 High School Graduation Recognition  Camden High School will use each student’s Quality Point Average (QPA) to determine Graduation Recognition and Class Rank  Graduation Ceremonies will recognize graduates in the following manner  Recognition GPA QPA  Summa Cum Laude 3.8000-4.0000 4.5000 to 5.0000  Magna Cum Laude 3.6500-3.7999 4.3000 to 4.4999  Cum Laude 3.5000-3.6499 4.1000 to 4.2999  Cum Meritus 3.0000-3.4999 3.5000 to 4.0999

15 High School Attendance Policy  After 5 absences per semester, in each class, students having a passing grade will have credit awarded only by the attendance committee  Students are responsible for what is taught during class time and are accountable for assignments made during that time  All students are required to take mid-term and final exams (Exception: Seniors are not required to take spring semester or the last tri-mester exams unless required by state testing standards)

16 Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program  HOPE Scholarship  21 ACT Composite OR 3.0 Overall Weighted GPA (based on 8 semesters of courses)  Aspire Award  Meet HOPE requirements AND parent’s (or student and spouse)adjusted gross income of $36,000 or less on IRS tax form  General Assembly Merit Scholarship (GAMS)  29 ACT Composite AND 3.75 Overall Weighted GPA  Tennessee HOPE Access Grant  18-20 Composite ACT AND 2.75 overall Weighted GPA (based on 8 semesters of courses)  Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant  Enroll in a certificate or diploma program at a Tennessee Technology Center

17 Tennessee Scholars  Must meet all state board of education graduation requirements  4 Math (Algebra I, II, Geometry and higher math-Bridge math will not count for TN Scholars)  4 English  3 lab science (Biology and Chemistry and one more lab science-Physics preferred) .5 Personal Finance  2 Foreign Language  1 Fine Art  1.5 Wellness/PE  Any combination of two of the following: 2 CTE credits; 2 AP classes; 2 Dual Credit, Dual Enrollment, online or International Baccalaureate  Additional requirements:  80 hours of community service  C average  95 % attendance (no more than 9 absences per year or 36 total for 4 years)  No out of school suspensions
