4 Stages of HIV Infection Window period Acute infection
Antibody tests may give false negative (no antibodies were detected despite HIV being present) results during the window period, (3 weeks - 6 months from the time of HIV infection and the production of measurable antibodies). Most people develop detectable antibodies approximately 30 days after infection. Acute infection Asymptomatic period Symptomatic period AIDS

HIV tests are used to detect the presence of the human immunodeficiency virus in serum, saliva, or urine. Such tests may detect HIV antibodies, antigens, or RNA.
