5 Classroom Expectations Class Dojo - This year we will be focusing on building important life skills such as working hard and participating. I’ll be using ClassDojo to give feedback on these skills :) Remember to: -Check ClassDojo regularly. -Keep me updated on how your child is doing at home. -Encourage the life skills we are working on in class outside of school.

7 Writing Curriculum ❧ Types of Writing: Narrative, Information, Opinion, Literary Essay, Poetry & Fairy Tales ❧ Writing Expectations: Writing at least a full notebook page each day to build stamina (30-40 minutes of independent writing) ❧ Writing HW - 2-3 times a week, same length as class writing ❧ Rubrics & Self-Assessments Using Student Checklist ❧ Writing Partnerships and Peer Editors

11 Birthday Policy ●In class celebration with students and parents ●We celebrate all the birthdays of the month on the last Friday of each month. ● All celebrations will be limited to 20 - 30 minutes. ● We are a nut- and seed- free classroom. Even if your child does not have an allergy, please do not send in food that may be problematic for another child.

13 State Testing New York State English Language Arts exam (ELA) April 5th– April 7th 3-Day Exam (multiple choice, short answer and extended response) Administered to assess students’ progress toward the Common Core Standards in English Language Arts. New York State Mathematics Test April 13th– April 15th 3-Day Exam (multiple choice, short answer and extended response) Administered to assess students’ progress towards the Common Core standards in Mathematics.
