2 Existing Conditions General Geometry and Layout Speed and Safety Controls –Bicycle and Pedestrian use –Intersection controls –Schools, MGC and biped crossings Trees and Landscaping –Leaning, overhanging branches, root intrusion Potable Water mains and services –New mains and services (Garcia 2009 – $240k) Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure –No surface replacement necessary Storm Sewer Infrastructure –Reduction of Localized Flooding and Erosion Pavement conditions –Utility trenching, edge erosion, un-eveness

3 Existing Conditions Green Pavement Resurfacing –One of the first 23 “macadamized” roads in Madison in 1896. –Garfield reconstructed (Cifelli 2006 - $695k) –Woodland to Kings reconstructed (Jenicar 2008 - $430k). –Woodland Phase 2 completed (Alexander 2011 - $450k). –Sections have not been resurfaced in over 20 years. –Due to length and overall cost, this second phase was required. Green Traffic conditions –Average Daily Trip counts are 3,800 for State MA13 funding. –Most side streets are now defined for vehicles and pedestrians. –Key intersections can be improved with accessible walks, signals, pole relocation and improved visibility. –Few unexpected changes in curvature, width and profile of road exist to compromise driver, bicycle or pedestrian safety. –Consistent treatment of curbs, aprons, ramps, inlets, bikeway, crossings and sidewalks will improve overall safety of all users. –Upon completion, can be designated a “Complete Street”.

8 NJ Municipal Aid Application CY2012 NJDOT Funding sought September 2012 in the amount of $314,000 in the second application (first was MA2011) Consultant services for surveying utilized but final design was relegated to in-house staff. Project was bid in November 2011 and a proposed amended appropriation and award resolution in February 2012 failed. Current Construction Cost Estimate = $572,570 Current Budget Cost Estimate = $630,000 Funding assistance possible = $314,000 (50%) Resolution of support R216-2012 dated September 10, 2012.
