5. French Revolution Leaders- Napoleon Changes- Estate system changed Napoleonic Law Code- all equal, jury system. University of France Bank of France Conquer Europe

6. Chinese Revolution Leaders- Mao Changes- China became Communist Chiang defeated Mao the first time. Retreat- Long March- gained support of peasants. 2 nd time defeats Chiang. Creation of “Two Chinas”

7. Cuban Revolution Leaders- Fidel Castro Changes- rural poverty, illiteracy and high unemployment caused revolution. 1959- Castro seized power. Made communist. Took control of foreign owned businesses. State owned farms. Exiled opponents. U.S. placed embargo

8. Iranian Revolution Leaders- Shah Pahlavi, Ayatollah Khomeini Changes- Shah introduced elements of Western culture. Emancipated women. 1979- Shah overthrown by Islamic Fundamentalists. Ayatollah Khomeini takes over. No separation of church and state.

9. Russian Revolution Leaders- Lenin Changes- wanted “Peace, Bread and Land.” 1917- Revolution takes place Led by Lenin and the Bolsheviks Makes Russia Communist- U.S.S.R. Begins NEP
