4 Publications SIGMOBILE is a major contributor to the ACM Digital Library Mobile Computing and Communications Review (MC2R): Quarterly newsletter and scientific journal for SIGMOBILE members High-quality peer-reviewed research papers (double-blind reviewing) Plus news, standards updates, CFPs, features, book reviews, etc. All content is indexed in IEE INSPEC, increasing visibility and impact Editor: Prof. Mani Srivastava (UCLA) Associate Editor: Prof. Srikanth Krishnamurthy (UC Riverside) 16 international Area Editors 2 Feature Editors Fast turn-around time, generally less than 6 months to publication SIGMOBILE Newsletter sent monthly to members: SIGMOBILE announcements, pointers to news articles, calendar of events, and pointers to articles for active developers Editor: Information Director Dr. Robert Steele (UT Sydney, Australia)

5 Membership SIGMOBILE membership is healthy: Membership total has been about constant past 2 years, after rising Now 784 total members (641 professional, 75 affiliate, 68 students) Total retention now 68.7% (between 63.7% and 71.4% since 2000) 2+-year retention now at 80.3%; 1-year retention now 44.2% and rising Volunteer development: Annual open SIGMOBILE business meetings are very well attended We have many volunteers seeking to get more involved in SIGMOBILE: –General Chairs, Program Chairs, Program Committees, etc., of our many conferences and workshops –Large active group of volunteers operating MC2R; E-News Editor –Solicitation of volunteers at annual open SIGMOBILE business meeting Recent example: Prof. Guanling Chen (UMass Lowell) has been auditing SIGMOBILEs entries in ACM Digital Library, finding and helping ACM correct many errors

6 Financials SIGMOBILE finances are strong and growing: Now over $72,000 above required fund balance and growing steadily Loss from MobiCom 2002, but other conferences have been profitable We have been being very careful and conservative with budgeting (2005 bump in required fund balance was due to MobiSys 2004 expenses: MobiSys expenses in even years were SIGMOBILE, odd years were USENIX, but MobiSys is 100% SIGMOBILE since 2006) Continuing strong Industry support: Past year conference/workshop donations include Boeing, Cisco, Crossbow, DiamlerChrysler, Google, HP, IBM, Intel, Moteiv, Microsoft Research, Nokia, RSA, Telecom Italia, Toyota, Verizon Wireless, … Required Balance
