2 Welcome! Goals for Students in 3 rd Grade: – More responsibility – Organizational Skills – Good work/study habits – Expand horizons and grow as learners – Enjoy the year!!!

3 Curriculum

4 Reading 20 minutes of daily reading at home to be recorded in a reading log on https://www.biblionasium.com https://www.biblionasium.com Focus on deeper thinking about the text. Reading grade is heavily influenced by their reading level. STAMINA: Our goal by January is to be reading and writing about reading for 45 minutes in class.

5 Math CCISD’s goals: – PROBLEM SOLVING!!! – Mastering addition and subtraction (3 digit) New to Third Grade – Financial Literacy and Economy – Place Value up to 100,000 – Fractions (comparing, naming, equivalent) – Multi-Step Problem solving – Recall Multiplication facts up to 10x10 with automaticity and recall the corresponding division facts – Multiplication of 2 digit by 1 digit (54 x 9 = _____) – Division facts within 100

6 Folders GREEN Take Home Folder – Homework will come home on Monday and will be due by Friday. Please check daily for teacher communication. Includes the behavior chart to be signed on Friday. PURPLE Tuesday Folder –Please take out papers and return to school the next day.

7 Nurse’s Information Medication must be sent in the original container with a note from home stating name of medication, instructions and parent signature All medications must go to the clinic; this includes cough drops Anything longer than 10 days needs a doctor’s note Students with a fever must stay home fever free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school Vision/Hearing – if you do not hear from the nurse, your child is fine

8 Absences Students must bring a note from his/her parent stating the reason for the absence within 3 days of his/her return

9 District Dismissal Guidelines CHANGES: CONTACT THE OFFICE, email is NOT accepted (teachers may not check in time). Changes by 2:30 p.m. Parents cannot check out their children after 2:45 p.m. Dismissal Time is now 3:15 p.m. Car riders must have a blue tag to pick up their child.

10 Lunch Lunch Price - $2.15 Breakfast Price - $1.25 Emergency Lunch money will be held by the teacher. Please check your Parent Portal / Skyward for your child’s account balance and set restrictions if needed. Snacks/Birthdays Students may bring a nutritious non-sugary snack They may bring water bottles with sports top only Nutritional Standards state that birthday treats are not allowed to be distributed during school. Non- edible treats are ok to pass out to everyone

11 Safety Issues All parents and visitors entering the building must sign in at the office and wear a badge If you are having lunch with your child, please remember that you may privately dine only with your child. Please do not walk them down to the room afterward. Visitors will have to be buzzed into and out of the front office. Thank you for your patience as we transition into an even more secure school environment.

12 Character Rally First Friday of the Month Celebrate Character Trait of the Month Begins at 7:45 Students who have shown character are randomly selected for special recognition.

13 Miscellaneous Field Trip: Museum of Fine Arts, Longhorn Exhibit STARR Testing Dates: – Math – May 9 th – Reading – May 10 th Volunteers – We always appreciate volunteers! If you can help out in the class or at home, please let us know. Class Wish List – If you would like to help our class with supplies we need throughout the school year, please take a post-it off the board. We appreciate your generosity!

18 Classroom Economy Students can earn, lose, and spend money in our classroom economy.  Income from their jobs  Shopping / Auction Day  Fines  Damaging materials  Expenses  Rent, additional or lost supplies
