1 Graphic Designer Senior Exit Interview By: Natalie Echevarria

2 Why am I interested in Graphic Design? I have always been interested in the arts. Painting Drawing Sewing My grandmother was a seamstress. My father studied drafting and architecture in college and my brother is currently getting his degree in architecture. Grew up expressing myself through my artwork.

3 What have I done so far? Graphic Design I Graphic Design II Worked with an actual client on campus to promote an event Experience outside of school

4 What specifically do I plan to accomplish? Most of these occupations require a four-year bachelor's degree, but some do not. Attend community college Palomar Community College Obtain Associate’s Degree Transfer to either F.I.D.M or Academy of Arts University Upon completing my Bachelor’s Degree, I would consider continuing my studies to a higher degree Masters of Fine Arts

6 What I know now and the near future Taking the two years of graphic design in high school I have learned the importance of: Originality —coming up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation Oral Comprehension —listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates

7 Obstacles… Of course the concern for obtaining the money to pay for all the schooling Apply for financial aid Possibly moving away from family. Commuting back and forth to school if not able to move close to school. Adapting to new schedules and college life.

8 Secondary option Related occupation such as interior design. furnish interiors of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings. Required Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree Median Wages: $22.89 (hourly) and $47,600 (annually) Projected Growth is an average 10-19% Attend Palomar Community College Bachelor’s Degree at NewSchool of Architecture + Design in San Diego, California

9 Goals Attend either one of my desired colleges Go to school and have a part time job at the same time or possible intern at a company to gain more knowledge and experience in the field. Obtain my Master’s degree Work for a design company and over the year work my way up to higher positions. Own my own graphic design company.
