2 High School teacher

3 Job description A high school teacher usually specializes in one subject such as English, math, science. I would like to be a math teacher, because math has always been my favorite subject and I understand this subject the most. High school teachers can see up to 100 students or more a day. I want to be a teacher because for as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. At first, it was an elementary teacher but as I’ve went through school for the past couple of years I realized I want to be a high school math teacher because I like algebra and geometry the most.

4 10 characteristics Values: As a teacher I believe you could have many different values. Some teachers might value technology where as other teachers might despise it. Most teachers value education and believe it is very important for everyone to have one. Tasks and Responsibilities: A teacher’s responsibility is to teach their students something new almost every day, if not every day. But that is not the only responsibilities teachers have. They also have to make sure their students actually understand what you are teaching them and you also need to make sure they stay on task. Teachers also have to come up with different ideas on how to teach so their class stays interesting, as well as grade papers and tests. Working with Data-People-Things: High school teachers mostly work with people considering they’re surrounded by people every day. But depending on what subject you specialize in you might work with data. For example a math or science teacher is likely to work with some type of data. Work Environment: As a teacher I would spend most, if not all, of my time indoors. I would spend a majority of my time in my classroom but every once in a while I might teach in the library or computer lab. The people surrounding me would vary. Most kids I teach will probably be nice and have manners but I guarantee there are going to be some kids who will be rude and disruptive. Hopefully the other teachers will be nice. Working Hours: A teacher’s hours depend on what school they work at. Most schools go from 8-3 but there are some schools that might start earlier or later. Even when the day ends for students though most teachers stay over and help kids make up work or get extra help, grade papers, etc. Some teachers come early too if they can’t stay later and some teachers have to leave their house early if they live far away to beat the traffic and make sure they get to school on time.

5 10 characteristics continued
Aptitudes and abilities: To be an effective teacher you need these three abilities amongst many more: classroom management, teaching skills, and communication skills. Classroom management is important because you need to be able to handle your classroom and the students in the classroom. Also, you want to make sure your classroom is neat and organize and make sure that your students have everything they need. Teaching skills are important because you need to make sure you can teach your students in a way that they will understand what you are teaching. Communication skills are important because you need to be able to communicate with your students and fellow teachers. Education and Training: The traditional route to becoming a teacher is getting a bachelor’s degree from a teacher education program and obtaining a teaching license. Becoming a teacher requires anywhere from 4 to 6 years of college, maybe even more. Salary and Benefits: High school teachers make about $56,000 annually. Benefits vary depending on the state or even country. Most teachers get doctor, dental, and optical insurance. Career Outlook: There will always be a need for teachers unless they come up with some type of robot so I believe there will still be a need for teachers in 10 years. International Career Outlook: Everyone needs teachers not just the United States so I believe that there will be a need overseas for teachers as well as in the United States.

6 Lifestyle & lifestyle goals
Depending on what state or even country you teach in will determine what kind of lifestyle you can live. The average high school teacher makes around $50,000 a year which enough to live a stable life. $50,000 a year is enough to support you and your kids every year. My lifestyle goals are to live in a decent sized house (3-4 bedrooms) and have a decent car I don’t need anything too expensive. I just want to be able to support myself and my family. I believe being a high school teacher could allow me to live my lifestyle goals.

7 Location Being a high school teacher means you can pretty much live anywhere because every state and country need teachers.

8 Career cluster Being a high school teacher falls under the humanitarian career cluster.

9 Photographer

10 Job description Photographers produce and preserve images that paint a picture, tell a story, or record an event. I want to be a photographer because ever since I joined yearbook in 6th grade I’ve loved taking pictures. I love taking pictures of nature the most but I would take pictures of anything if I was a professional.

11 10 characteristics Values: Photographers value art and creative. Some other values photographers have are patience for dealing with their customers. Also, flexibility because sometimes things don’t go as planned and you must be flexible with your schedule. Photographers should also be organized to make sure you always have what you need and know where everything is and when you have to do certain photo shoots, etc. Tasks and Responsibilities: Some tasks and responsibilities of a photographer is working with clients to discuss what kind of pictures they want, where they want them, etc. Photographers also use appropriate equipment to make sure their pictures are the best they can be. Photographers obviously have to take pictures but they also need to go through the pictures after they’re done and decide which ones are good and which ones are not good. Working with Data-People-Things: Photographers work with people the most. They take pictures of people and they work with people as their clients. Photographers also work with things because they might take pictures of things instead of people. Work Environment: As a photographer my work environment would change daily. Some days I might be inside all day taking pictures and other days I might be outside taking pictures. It really just depends on the client and what they want. As for the people surrounding me they would also vary because you never know what kind of person you are going to have to take pictures for. I imagine most would nice but I’m sure there will a few that are rude and demanding. Working Hours: Photographer’s hours would vary depending on the job, location and many other factors. Most people are going to get pictures during the day but you might have to work some nights, you would never know really until you have talked to the client.

12 10 characteristics continued
Aptitudes and Abilities: As a photographer you need many skills. Some of those are the skills to work with different camera equipment, editing skills, marketing skills and people skills. Also, as a photographer you obviously need to know how to work a camera and how to use it properly Education and Training: The extent of education needed for a career in photography depends on the individual’s goals. In some cases good technical abilities, knowledge of the equipment and vocational training or an associate’s degree would be good enough. However, a Bachelor of Art in photography would provide more opportunities and advancement. Many people also take photography training classes which are offered in vocational schools and colleges. Many professionals learn by attending workshops and taking lessons from other photographers. Salary and Benefits: The annual salary of a photographer may vary depending on a number of factors including industry, company size, location, years of experience and level of education. Photographers can make anywhere from $18,000 to $65,000 annually. Photographer’s benefits depend on if they’re self-employed or not. Self-employed photographers get the same benefits as any freelance professional. Photographers who work for a company get the same benefits as any employee of that corporation. Career Outlook: It’s kind of hard to say if there will be a need for photographers in 10 years. Technology is advancing so much every year that it is impossible to say right now if there will be a need for photographers. I’m sure there will be somewhat of a demand for professional photographers for wedding pictures and such but with technology becoming so advanced I’m sure in 10 years’ time people could start taking pictures on their own. International Career Outlook: Just like I said above it’s hard to say whether there is going to be a need for photographers in 10 years. Technology is advancing all around the world not just in America so it’s hard to say if there will be a need for photographers in the future or not.

13 Lifestyle & lifestyle goals
Depending on how much you make determines what kind of lifestyle you can. Since photographer’s salaries vary so much it’s impossible to say what kind of life I can live being a photographer. My lifestyle goals are to live in a decent sized house (3-4 bedrooms) and have a decent car I don’t need anything too expensive. I just want to be able to support myself and my family. I’m not sure if being a photographer will let me live my lifestyle goals, it’s too hard to say because every photographer makes a different amount of money.

14 Location Photographers can work in pretty much any state or country. Everywhere has a demand for photographers so you could live anywhere.

15 Career cluster Photographers fall under the artistic career cluster.
