Pleasant Unpleasant High FEELING Low ENERGY

What is a Caring Majority? Caring Majority is composed of most of the children in a school who act kindly to each other and who want their school to be “bully free.” Caring Majoring Ambassadors are a group of 6 th graders that are trying to stop bullying at school by teaching caring behaviors to their younger classmates We are here to help in any way we can at 9E.

What is important at 9E? The 9E goal is to keep people safe, comfortable, included, and welcomed to the school. We also want to make this school bully free. Everyone here by the end of the year should be an upstander.

Empathy means … To put yourself in somebody else's shoes

What Is Bullying? Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending him or herself.

Emotional bullying (including name calling and exclusion) Physical bullying Cyber bullying

Verbal bullying is when someone or a group of people call you names. You may know the saying sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt me – BUT we know THAT WORDS CAN REALLY HURT YOU Think before you say something to someone. Put yourself in their shoes. Verbal bullying sticks with you for life. Never Ever Verbal Bully Exclusion is when one or more people intentionally leave you out of their games or work groups

Physical bullying is when someone else purposely hits, kicks, punches etc. to put you in physical pain. Physical bullying is very serious, you should automatically tell an adult because you can get really hurt. NO PHYSICAL BULLYING ALLOWED HERE AT 9E!!!

CYBERBULLYING Cyber bullying is when someone bullies you online. They either threaten to do something to you or write a mean message. If anyone ever writes something threatening or mean, always show an adult and never delete it or respond. Cyber bullying can be very scary don’t take any risks.

1) For the bully to turn into a future criminal. 2) For the victim to feel scared and not want to come to school.  This will happen because if you think getting away with bullying is easy, then robbing a bank is easy too.  They wouldn ’ t want to go to school because they wouldn ’ t want to face the bully.

A bystander is someone who just stands by and watches the victim get bullied. Some things the bystander might do is cheer on the bully, ignore the situation or just watch. They are actually worse than the bully because they’re just watching and not doing anything about it.

An upstander is someone who stands up to the bully and helps the victim. The upstander is the one who is brave to stick up to the bully. You should always be an upstander not a bystander!!!

Some ways you can give power to the upstander are: *Join the upstander by standing up to the bully with them *Become friends with the upstander and be a part of their caring acts *Tell the upstander that they did a good job and that they are very brave to stand up to a bully

Some ways you can strengthen the victim after he/she get bullied are: * Teach the victim to stand up for himself * Ask the victim to be your friend and he/she will feel more confident about standing up to the bully because he/she will have a friend to stick up for them too. * Take the victim away from the bully and walk away with him/her to tell an adult about what happened so then a adult will know about it too and the adult will make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

By doing these things the victim will not feel as scared and worried about the bully because he will have a friend to stand up for him, a teacher to tell if something happens, and strategies on how to make the bully stop.

What do you do if you are being bullied? First, try to get the bully to stop Next, tell the nearest adult if the bully continues. Stay in a group and as far away from the bully as possible. Use the “ I ” message at all times.

You use an I message when someone is being bullied or when you are being bullied by someone else. You would say, “I don’t like it when you say that to my friend,” or you would say, “I don’t like it when you do that to me.” Use an I message to the bully. Stick up for yourself and others. You would say, “I don’t like it when you say that to my friend,” or you would say, “I don’t like it when you do that to me.” Use an I message to the bully. Stick up for yourself and others.

Be helpful You can make a difference Speak up, use humor Tell an adult Act assertively Never bully others Discuss other choices Empathize with them Role model good behavior Show support

Consequences THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES FOR BULLYING THAT INCREASE IN INTENSITY IF YOU CONTINUE BULLYING BEHAVIORS: The first time you bully ……. No recess, and you have to read a book with a caring message. Write a letter home and get it signed by your parents. You will have no recess until it is signed. The second time you bully …… Two days, no recess. Principal writes another letter home and student gets it signed by his or her parents. No recess until the letter is returned signed. The third time you bully …….Parent principal conference and possible suspension! The fourth time you bully …….Principal parent conference and a referral to the superintendent of schools!!!!!
