6. Thesis – Your most important relationship is with your supervisors. Academic guidance and advice in refining your topic, finding suitable sources, structuring your thesis, but especially planning. Planning involves: – Ensuring the smooth progress of your candidature so that you finish within the three-year time frame. This includes timely completion of your milestone events. – Ensuring that you complete the research training components of your thesis.

7. Milestones Milestone events: (see Handbooks for details) – Confirmation of candidature (PhD: 12 months, Masters: 9-12 months if full-time) – Mid-Candidature Review (MCR): PhD: 21-27 months if full-time. – Pre-submission seminar: PhD: no less than 6 months before the candidature end date.

There is no obligation to use it, but it may be helpful at the time when you need to report on the research training activities that you have completed in your milestone reports.
