6. Accelerated Reader Students are tested quarterly and assigned a reading range and goal each quarter. They should choose appropriate books in their reading range. There are many research studies that correlate the amount of time students read independently to success in school. Please provide the structure and support to encourage your child to read, read and read! Reading incentives will offered quarterly for students who meet quarterly goals. “Millionaires” will also be recognized at the Character Counts assemblies.

11. Tax Credit Donation What is it? An opportunity to direct your tax money directly to your child’s classroom Married filers up to $400, single filers can donate $250 but ANY AMOUNT YOU DONATE IS APPRECIATED! The contribution amount offsets your Arizona tax obligation Example: when calculating your taxes you find that you owe the state $200. Make a $200 tax credit donation to CUSD/Navarrete/6 th grade and pay zero in state taxes. If you do not owe any money in taxes, make a donation and get it back later as a refund!

13. Homework Students will record all assignments in their planners. Parents must check and sign off daily. Students will be encouraged to keep planners up to date and signed through classroom incentives. Homework will be assigned on a daily or weekly basis. Students who do not bring their homework will suffer a loss of privileges and points. Homework will be a part of the overall grade. Per district guidelines, homework should not exceed 60 minutes per night Classroom assignments that are not finished during time provided are expected to be completed as homework.
