Haude Grading Guidelines Major grades equal 50% of your child’s average and minor grades are the other 50%. Please note, not all grades will come home in the Tuesday Folder via a paper copy. Please refer to parent connect for up to date grades and averages. Retesting If your child fails an assignment, they will have an opportunity to redo the assignment after working with us. Their new score will be averaged with their original score. Retests may require being done before school or after school.

Power Hour Occurs daily from 12:35-1:35 Students will rotate twice through all five classrooms within the week working on curriculum based activities. During this time, teachers will be seeing students in small group settings.

Reading and Language Arts Daily whole group instruction in Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop Read-alouds Anchor charts with reading skills and strategies Poetry Vocabulary Handwriting Grammar Organized writing on assigned topics Journaling Daily small group instruction and learning stations Grammar Spelling & Handwriting Computer Reading

Homework may include… Spelling Contract Math Reading Comprehension Science/Social Studies Studying for tests Students should read 15 minutes each night Practice math facts flash cards Get their planners signed daily by a parent or guardian

How you can help at home Help your child with homework! Encourage your student to complete their reading (15 minutes) each night! Homework is due the next day unless otherwise noted. Homework is given often. Homework is a review of what we have learned that day and should not take more than 20 minutes. Sign the planner daily and help your student to be organized! Signing the planner lets us know that you have reviewed the homework and upcoming assessments with your child.
