HISTORY of 10 PIN

British anthropologists found primitive bowling balls, bowling pins and other materials in the grave of an Egyptian boy dating to 3200 BC, which was over 5200 years ago. The first written reference to bowling dates to 1366, when King Edward III of England banned his troops from playing the game so that they would not be distracted from their archery practice. It is believed that they bowled with canon balls

PLAY A game of ten-pin bowling is divided into ten rounds (called “frames”). In a frame, each player is given two opportunities to knock down the “pins”.

Frame 1, ball 1: 10 pins (strike)
The total score from these throws is: Frame one: 10 + (3 + 6)= 19 Frame two: = 9 TOTAL = 28

BOWLING A STRIKE If you get a “strike” you have knocked down all ten pins with your FIRST ball Your first ball score 10 + the # of pins knocked down with your next two balls bowled in the next frames Quiz: What is the maximum score in each frame? Did you know three consecutive strikes is called a “turkey” 4+ strikes is called a “bagger”
