2  The Cornell Police Crime Prevention Unit’s mission is to deter crime or the perception of crime and to reduce victimization in the Cornell community by:  Establishing partnerships with the Cornell community.  Conducting educational programs.  Providing resources to victims.  Implementing safety and security plans both on an individualized level or through building security.  Conduct physical security assessments identifying areas of need such as access control, locking mechanisms, fencing, blue light phones, EM phones, surveillance.  Participation with annual lighting surveys

4  Gorge Safety  Personal Safety  360 degree Stay Safe on Campus  Coffee or Popcorn with the Police  RAD Program(September 2014)  Sexual Assault Awareness(coming soon)

5 RAD system  Graduated 15 women from the free 12 hr. course  WSH- 4 sessions in September 2014  Instructors were from SUNY Cortland Sexual Assault Awareness  Focus group to meet soon

6 Popcorn or Coffee with the Police  Breaks down barrier between the police and community  Gives opportunity for feedback  Gives CUPD an opportunity to engage the public  Work with host to establish agenda

7  Extended service to cover tablets and smartphones  IS FREE TO ALL OF THE CORNELL COMMUNITY

8  NY Grant-Funded Program  Install approximately 100 seats per year  Two clinics per year  Partnerships  6 technicians trained at CUPD

9  CP unit is currently working with individuals that need a safe place to retreat in cases where Orders of Protection are attached.  Make individuals aware of resources in the Cornell and surrounding community (Advocacy Center, FSAP, Women’s Resource Center, JA’s Office and Gannett.)  Make arrangements with Residential Life/ Management in cases where housing or work stations need to be relocated.  Education on the importance of reporting.

12  Landscaping issues  Trees needed to be cut back/Vegetation trimmed  Over Illumination  Some areas were a concern in regards to sustainability

13  Lights Out  Residential Areas- 30 lamps out  Academic Areas-  Broken Fixtures  Residential Areas  Academic Areas Note: some areas identified need re-lamping as well.

14  Areas currently being worked on:  122 McGraw Place  Physical Science Building Stairwell  Ho Plaza (feasibility study)  North side of Slope (feasibility study)  West Ave/ Baker Tower Area  Hughes Hall pathway  Forest Home Drive

15 New Blue lights have been installed at:  Cascadilla Gorge Trail on South Side of Trail.  South side of Fall Creek Gorge behind FIJI.  South side of Fall Creek Gorge at Stewart Ave.  All Bridges now have BL phones.  North end of Suspension Bridge. *Looked into new locations for Blue Lights based on crime alerts and heavily traveled areas, as well as uniformity.

16 Recommendations for additional Blue Light Phones  Near Bailey Hall Plaza at Space Sciences.  Three BL’s added to Ag Quad project  Three BL near State Fleet Garage/ Teaching Barn  Area of 122 McGraw Place  New BL will be added to Gannett Health/ Ho Plaza  Vet School Clinic- Campus/ Caldwell Rd Reutilized Blue Light  Gannett Health-Schuyler House
