4 EVACUATION When an announcement is made or alarm sounded: (For use when conditions outside are safer than inside)When an announcement is made or alarm sounded:Take the closest and safest way out of the building by the evacuation routes as posted in your classroom. If primary route is blocked, use secondary routeTake roll book for student accountingAssist those needing special assistanceDo not stop for student or staff belongingsGo to designated assembly areasCheck for injuriesTake attendance to account for all studentsWait for further instructions

9 ALERT STATUS (For use in securing access to the building , usually a community emergency event) Staff and students will be informed over the intercom of the ALERT STATUSSecure the facility by locking all doors from the insidePost staff near the main entrance of the building to allow entrance and exit with identificationConduct classes and activities within the building in a normal manner
10 When the announcement is made: CODE RED LOCKDOWN (For use to protect building occupants from potential dangers in the building or from outside)When the announcement is made: CODE REDStudents are to be cleared from the halls immediately and report to the nearest available classroomAssist those needing special assistanceClose and lock all doors and windows and do not leave for any reasonStay away from all doors and windows and move students to interior walls and sit on the floorShut off lightsBE QUIET!Wait for further instructionsComplete emergency attendance sheet
11 SEVERE WEATHER SAFE AREA (For use in severe weather emergencies) An announcement will be made informing staff and students of the emergencyStudents are to be cleared from the halls immediately and report to the nearest available classroomAssist those needing special assistanceClose and lock all doors and windows and do not leave for any reasonStay away from all windows and move students to interior walls and sit on the floorShut off lightsBE QUIET!Wait for further instructionsComplete emergency attendance sheet
12 EARTHQUAKES Stay indoors Take cover under heavy furniture, desks, tables or in narrow halls and interior doorwaysBe aware of falling objectsStay away from windowsIf outdoors, move away from the building, if possibleStay away from utility poles and overhead wiresIf you are in a bus, the driver should stop quickly and as safely as possible in an open area away from overpasses and bridges
