3 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector PTLLS Level 3 or 4 6 credits for PTLLS qualification Mandatory part of CTLLS and DTLLS Suitable for a range of professionals working with adults who do not have a direct teaching role

4 Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector CTLLS Levels 3 and 4 6 credits carried forward from PTLLS 24 credits 15 credits can be carried forward to a Level 5 DTLLS Enables professionals to teach groups of adults in an associate role

5 Who would gain from PTLLS? Professionals with other qualifications who wish to work with groups of adults Support staff and volunteers who want to begin to qualify for working with adults Group facilitators for WWP

6 PTLLS Outcomes Understand own role and responsibilities in relation to teaching Understand teaching and learning approaches in specialist area Demonstrate some session planning skills Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

7 Who would gain from CTLLS? Teachers with a pre-16 teaching qualification Teachers who teach only on wider family learning and parenting programmes Those who want progression from PTLLS without making a commitment to a full DTLLS qualification

9 Family Learning CPD and the National Qualifications Outcomes of FL units will fulfil many generic outcomes for national qualifications Offers a more staged progression for further professional development Offers transferable qualifications for work in other areas

10 FLLN CPD Units for pre-16 teachers Working with adult learners – communication and approaches Skills for Life Strategy – policy context and needs of priority groups of learners Core literacy, language and numeracy curricula for adults

11 FLLN Units for post - 16 teachers Children’s learning and curricula – policy context and principles of teaching and learning for children Working in a children’s setting – understand own role and developing effective communications with professional partners

12 Joint Units Development of FLLN provision – policy context and differences in pedagogy for adults and children Engaging target group of learners Building on home literacy practices Programme and session planning in FLLN
