1 Life Of Daniel Most likely born in Jerusalem around 620 B.C. during the reign of Josiah. He belonged to the tribe of Judah. About the age of 14, Daniel was captured in Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. With three of his friends, he was educated in the language and traditions of the Jewish faith. Daniel was trained as a highly positioned scholar in service to the king. Became members of the court. Daniel became famous as an interpreter of dream. The name "Daniel" means "God is my Judge.”

2 Some Interesting Facts About Daniel Although the book of Daniel is not technically classified as a part of the Prophets, but of the Writings—the third major section of the Old Testament, Jesus refers to him as a prophet in the New Testament. Daniel's spiritual credentials are of the highest caliber. He was considered a man of righteousness alongside Noah and the patriarch Job. Daniel also had special understanding in literature and wisdom — essential qualifications for writing his book. Daniel wrote this book under his name. In his own book he often speaks in the first person.

3 Call Daniel was called by God as a young man. The book that God inspired him to write has many prophecies. These prophecies include predictions about different civilizations and how they would come to develop as time progressed. It makes sense that only God knows what will happen in the future, however, Daniel was able to predict events in the future years after his time. Therefore, supporting the idea of

4 Mission His ministry as a prophet happened late in his life. Daniel had a lot of faith in God. So much that he preferred to be thrown in a lions den instead of displeasing God. His mission was to help others understand the works of God and to help people become as faithful as he was.

5 Message Daniel is known for saying: “My God is Judge” Daniel was judged and put into some very difficult situations. However, he still remained loyal to God and God helped him through the hard times he was going through. His main message is to remain loyal to God no matter what the circumstances are.

6 Symbols In the bible we find the symbols of Daniel in different stories –Some symbols come from King Nebuchadnezzar’s dreams –Others come from Daniels visions and Dreams Daniels visions are full of symbols and symbolic meaning there are a few that are big and keep coming up throughout his visions:

9 Symbolism of Time Time used in visions given to Daniel were very symbolic One prophetic Hour = 15 days One prophetic Day = 1 year One prophetic month = 30 years One prophetic Year = 360 years For example Daniel uses 2300 days and in reality it took 2300 years to rebuild and restore Jerusalem
