2 Connecting Europe Facility: What is it?
Falls under the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) Common Fund Instrument for trans-EU network (TEN) to: Accelerate deployment of infrastructures needed at EU level Enhance cross-border connections and tap existing gaps (e.g. tackle single market fragmentation through pan-EU ICT networks/services) Promote territorial ‘convergence’ connecting the centre-periphery Deploys innovative financing tools Based on the same principles underpinning the MFF : Result-focused, simplification, conditionality, leveraging investment ICT for Health – Benoît Abeloos – Peteris Zilgalvis – eHealth Business Modellijng 22 June 2012

7 Implications for epSOS

8 Need to plan eHealth CEF deployment and governance
Type of cross-border services to be deployed and their drivers Identification and quantification of major cost items: Initial infra and infostructure to be deployed Scaling up of services Interoperability assets (open source components, specifications, mini-ontology’s…) to be developed and maintained Helpdesk, training, dissemination,… Governance structure involving member states Interoperability testing and audits Part of central versus national/regional costs ICT for Health – Benoît Abeloos – Peteris Zilgalvis – eHealth Business Modellijng 22 June 2012
