3 Unit Objectives Throughout this unit students will revisit: –Greetings & Salutations –the verb Ser in the present tense –Subject pronouns (yo, tú, él, ella, etc) Students will be able to: Understand gender as it applies to Spanish nouns & adjectives Practice using definite & indefinite articles Describe their personality & physical attributes as well as those of their friends Express likes and dislikes using the verb Gustar

6 El verbo Gustar Gustar is strange verb, because it actually means “is pleasing to.” So you have to specify WHO/ WHAT is pleasing to you.

7 1 st in English In English, we construct a sentence that has the subject "liking" a direct object. In Spanish, this never occurs. In Spanish, a different sentence format is used. –English: I like the room. Spanish: The room is pleasing to me. –English: We like the books. Spanish: The books are pleasing to us.
