1A-1 Fire Engine Maintenance Unit 1A Vehicle Inspections

1A-2 Objectives Complete all fire engine and post off-road inspections as identified in the Fire Engine Maintenance Procedure Record (FEMPR). Correctly enter all information in the Fire Engine Maintenance Procedure Record (FEMPR).

1A-3 Fire Engine Maintenance Procedure and Record (FEMPR)

What is it? The FEMPR is the documentation tool required by the BLM to record various mechanical procedures that the engine operator performs on the engine. The FEMPR is also an information resource on how to perform various mechanical procedures on the engine. 1A-4

1A-5 Items that need to be recorded in the FEMPR are: Vehicle Data Pump Package Data Fire Engine Weight Equipped Fire Engine Weight Fire Engine Inspection Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Engine Service Pump Service Pump Performance Test Record

1A-6 FEMPR as an Information Resource Determining Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Fire Engine Inspection Instructions Performing and Air Brake Check Jump Starting Procedures Pump Performance Instructions

1A-88 Baffle Case Study

What are baffles in a water tank? 1A-89

Baffles are steel/plastic plates that are inside the tank that prevent water from sloshing around in the tank. 1A-90

Holes in the baffles allow water to flow between compartments. 1A-91
