2 Compare the subject pronouns with their corresponding stress pronouns: *Subject pronouns: Je – I Tu – you Il – he Elle – she Nous – we Vous – you Ils – they Elles – they (fem.) *used before verbs as the subject of the sentencs Stress pronouns: Moi – me Toi – you Lui – him Elle – her Nous – us Vous – you Eux – them Elles – them (fem.)

3 Use of stress pronouns: To reinforce or stress the subject: Moi, je vais au bord de la mer (Im going to the sea shore) Lui, il reste à la maison (Hes staying home)

4 After prepositions such as: Avec – with Pour – for Sans – without Chez – at, to the home (business) of Il veut jouer avec nous (He wants to play with us) Je vais chez moi après les cours (Im going home after class) Sophie va chez eux après les cours (Sohpie is going to their house after school)

5 Alone or in a phrase: Qui fait du ski nautique? Moi! (Who water skies? !) Et toi? Tu aimes faire du surf? (And you, do you like to surf?)

6 After et and ou (and & or) Marie et moi, nous allons à la plage (Marie and I (me) are going to the beach) Qui va prendre les leçons de natation? Lui ou elle? (Who is going to take swimming lessons? He or she?)

7 After cest or ce nest pas: Cest toi, Yvonne? (Is that you, Yvonne?) Oui, cest moi. (Yes, its me) Cest Jean? Non, ce nest pas lui. (Is that Jean? Non, its not him)

8 With – même to express myself, herself etc: Je fais les valises moi-même. (I pack my suitcases myself) Ils font la cuisine eux-même. (They cook themselves)
