2 1905+ students PK through 4th grade 6 building campus plus Grace Living Center Currently 10 Full-Day sections of Pre-K 1-A.M section and 1-P.M section of half day Pre-K 22 students maximum per state requirement Early Childhood Certified Teacher along with Full time Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) in every classroom

3 Safety is our number one priority Necessary self help skills Full Day 8:15-3:00pm Half-Day 9:15- 11:45am / 1:15-3:45 pm Grace Living Center 8:50-3:25pm Drop-off and pick-up times are 15 minutes before/after class

4 Your child’s classroom location will determine their assigned drop-off and pick-up spot. Please position your child’s car seat to the curb-side location for safety. Stay in your car and pull forward to keep the line moving. Please pull over out of the car line and buckle your child up or have your child practice buckling him/her self up over the summer.

9 Full Day Pre-K Quiet Activities Children need a small amount of time each day to “rest” their brains. Plastic Mats will be available for purchase from PTAG for $8.00. Children can bring a SMALL blanket OR stuffed animal The times will be after lunch and anywhere from 20-45 minutes. This will be a gradual release of time as the school year progresses. Children sleeping will be left to sleep for the first semester of school. During the second 9 weeks of school, children not sleeping will have the option to read, color, and/or watch videos/e-stories quietly on their mats.

10 Assessment Tools: teacher observations, checklists, completion of tasks, manipulatives, journals, and portfolios. Data Books are used to record and keep records of assessments. Choose Report Card Rubrics PreK-6 4.Select Pre-Kindergarten the areas of assessment are: Adaptive Skills Motor/Creative Skills Cognitive Skills: Language Arts Cognitive Skills: Mathematics Cognitive Skills: Science Cognitive Skills: Social Studies 5.Report Cards for Pre-Kindergarten go home in January and in May Curriculum Details will be covered by the teachers in the “Back to School Night” presentations in August.

11 Things to do over the summer to help prepare your child for Pre-K:  Work on self-help skills: putting on/off a jacket, zipping/buttoning, turning a jacket inside/out, putting on/off shoes, etc. -we LOVE Velcro -flip flops are dangerous on the playground  Practice using the bathroom by him/her self (independently wiping and taking on/off pants)  Practice writing first name  Practice holding a pencil, crayon, and/or marker - using the correct grip  Practice holding and cutting with child-sized scissors  Practice: listening ears, sharing, cleaning up, and patiently waiting  Practice proper hand-washing techniques with your child  Practice putting folder, lunchbox, blanket (or stuffed toy) in/out of backpack and zipping it  Have your child practice buckling his/her seat belt  Talk about school with your child  READ, READ, READ!

13 Miscellaneous Backpacks should be large enough to hold folders. No wheels on backpacks. Always keep a change of clothes in your child’s backpack labeled with their name. LABEL with your child’s name clothes that are outerwear such as jackets, coats, sweaters, & sweatshirts.

14 Full Day PRE-K Snacks & Lunch The classroom teacher will decide how snacks will be managed and at what time of the day. We encourage healthy snacks. Each teacher will go over their procedures at Back to School Night. Free/Reduced Lunch Forms are available. The children eat in the cafeteria. Send lunch money to school with your child or pay online at mylunchmoney.com (transaction fee applies). Students may bring a lunch from home (sack or lunch box/bag).

Students may eat breakfast from 7:45- 8:00 (If your child is not in Adv. Club, parent can accompany PRE-K child to breakfast.)

16 Parent Teacher Action Group (PTAG) The PTAG is a volunteer organization of parents, teachers and administrators who work together to promote quality education for our children. PTAG provides Daily Agendas to all students K-4 th grade. PTAG provides Cash/products for our school through rebate programs such as Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s Labels, Staples, and Office Depot. PTAG provides Subscriptions for periodicals for each classroom, such as the Scholastic Weekly Readers. PTAG provides Items for Teacher Wish Lists. PTAG provides funds for field trips. Spirit Wear Yearly dues:$10.00 School Supply Packets are on sale NOW at the PTAG table. Teachers LOVE the school supply packs! The Pre-K supplies are collected by your child’s teacher and used in the classroom as community property. Please SUPPORT AND JOIN PTAG!!!
