1 Who am I? I am your constant companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden. I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command. Half the things I do you might as well turn over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly. I am easily managed - you must merely be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons I will do it automatically. I am the servant of all great individuals and, alas, of all failures as well. Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures. I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a human. You may run me for profit or run me for ruin - it makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you. Who am I? Answer: Habit

2 Activity Please stand with your hands by your side. Cross your arms. Take in your position; look over your body. Put your arms back by your side. Now, cross your arms the “opposite way.” Questions to consider: How does it “feel” to cross your arms this way? Who taught you this habit? How long do you think it would take to make “this way” feel comfortable?

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that. You know what, you’re right. Who does he think he is anyway?! Can we talk about this first? That’s unfair! My boyfriend is making my life miserable! I have to choose what’s best for me. If I had her looks, I’d be popular too. Leave me alone you jerk! It’s none of your business!

20 Proactive People… Know what they stand for and have a strong set of values.  Listen to their “better selves”  Realize they have choices and take responsibility for those choices.  Bounce back when something bad happens in their lives.  Always look at all options.  Focus on things they can do something about, and don’t worry about the other things.

21 Reactive People Allow other people or things to control them
Allow a rude comment by a friend ruin their whole day Other people can change their mood at the “push of a button”

22 Are you Proactive or Reactive? Think about it…
