2 What is propaganda? Using different methods to manipulate people into accepting an idea. Propaganda can influence a person’s emotions, opinions, attitudes, and behavior. Propaganda is used by the military, media, advertisers, and politicians. The goal is to persuade people to accept an idea.

4 Bandwagon- “Join the crowd”
This technique tries to persuade everyone to join in and do the same thing. Example-Mc Donald’s 99 billion served

6 Testimonial- This technique uses an important person or famous figure to endorse a product. Example-George Clooney selling coffee.

8 Plain Folk This technique uses normal people to promote a product or support a particular idea. Example- supporting the war

10 Repetition This technique uses a name, keyword, or phrases repeatedly.
Example-Using the word tide over and over again.

12 Transfer This technique transfers good feelings, looks, or ideas to the person for whom the product is intended. Symbols like the cross or flag are used in this technique. Example- using American Revolution soldiers to get support for the World War II soldiers

14 Emotional Words This technique uses words to evoke positive feelings, for example, words like luxury, beautiful, paradise, or economical. Example-Using the image of someone dying from smoking would convey a sad message.

This technique uses negative words to create an unfavorable opinion of the competition in the viewer’s mind. Example-one soup company is stating that their product is much better because of they have better ingredients.

This technique uses a product that is credited with a positive result.

This technique leads the viewer to believe one product is better than another, although no real proof is offered. Example-This image conveys the differences between the Democratic Party and Republican Party.
