Our Response to State and Federal Requirements 1.We will continue to identify more infants eligible for Early On services before their 1st birthday. 2.We will continue to meet the 45 day timeline for Early On referrals to IFSP meetings. 3.We will meet the 30 school day timeline from Initial Referral to Initial IEP. 4.OHI eligibility will continue to be based on substantiated medical conditions. 5.LD & OHI eligibility numbers will continue to decrease.

Our Response to State and Federal Requirements 6.Referral numbers will again stay at a low rate & the percentage of eligible students from referrals will again increase. 7.We will document all eligibility requirements before a child is eligible for special education. 8.We will complete all required activities associated with CIMS-2 Part B (SE) and Part C (Early On) monitoring. 9.We will use MDE’s REED processes to determine the initial & reevaluation testing that will be done.

Our Response to State and Federal Requirements 10.We will assist local school district staff members placing 80% of SE students 80% or more in GE. MDE’s target is 61% for the 2009-2010 school year.

What’s the Future of Special Education (SE)? 1.MDE will be More Flexible with SE Service Delivery Options. Processes will be less costly, more streamlined, and Data Driven. 2.There will be much more Blending of SE with General Education into a Single (Unitary) System. 3.There will be far less “Stand Alone” (Silo) Programming options. Everything in SE links to the GE Curriculum. 4.Expectations for Student and Staff Achievement will Rise Significantly. Data will drive decisions. SE Costs will be Scrutinized much more as Revenues Shrink. 5.Those Unable to Keep Pace with Continual Rapid Change will be Left Behind.

“It’s just not the same without you!” When you are absent your students and our staff members miss you. When you are absent your students and our staff members miss you.
