2 FACTS TO BE AWARE In the United States, the teenage pregnancy rate is higher than in many other countries. Approximately 750,000 teens become pregnant every year and most didn't plan on becoming pregnant. Every year, 12-15 million Americans are infected with a new STD. Nearly 1 million Americans are infected with the AIDS virus -- and a third of these people don't even know it. The most effective way to prevent pregnancy and STDs is abstinence.
