The throat may become red and the tongue and the throat may become covered with red or white dots. In the earlier stages the tongue may have a whitish or yellowish coating. Temperature may be at or over 38.3° You may also have swollen glands.

4. Effects of Scarlet Fever Scarlet fever killed many small children and babies in the 1860’s. It was not until many years later that a treatment was found. Now if you attract scarlet fever you will be put on antibiotics and be cured and back to normal health. The rash itself last normally for about 6 to 9 days.
