4 Unit Objectives Throughout this unit students will revisit: –Greetings & Salutations –the verb Ser in the present tense –Subject pronouns (yo, tú, él, ella, etc) Students will be able to: Understand gender as it applies to Spanish nouns & adjectives Practice using definite & indefinite articles Describe their personality & physical attributes as well as those of their friends Express likes and dislikes using the verb Gustar

6 Compañeros Compañero = conversation partner 4 step process 1.Select a person sitting next to you at your table group/ a seat mate whom you’ll feel comfortable speaking Spanish with. 2.Decide who’s going to speak 1 st. They raise their hand when Sra. Waters says “Empezamos” 3.Following examples, begin your conversación/ review practice. Then switch when your done, so that your compañero has a chance to start the conversación. 4.Listen for the “Silencio” command from Sra. Waters which is your clue to stop conversing & be silent! Let’s practice…. Find your Compañero…….Empezamos..... ¡Silencio!

9 Describing Cards Work with a Compañero 1.In your notes draw the people as they are described on the card you’ll receive. 2.Next translate the description into English.

11 Modelo para la conversaciòn: Go around the room and have 8 mini conversaciònes en español with your classmates. Write down how they describe themselves and sign each other’s papers. –Sra. Waters: ¿Cómo eres tú? –Cecilia: Yo soy baja, flaca, y inteligente. ¿Cómo eres tú? –Sra. Waters: Yo soy alta, seria, y bonita.
