2 © and ® 2011 Vista Higher Learning, Inc.4B.1-2 Note that you form the future tense of -er and -ir verbs by adding the future endings to the infinitive. The -e of the infinitive is dropped before adding the endings to -re verbs.

The words le futur and l’avenir (m.) both mean future. Use the first word when referring to the grammatical future; use the second word when referring to events that haven’t occurred yet.
