5 Important Dates Middle School Track First Practice: March 4 th 4pm-5:30pm @ the Track Middle School Badminton First Practice: March 4 th 4pm-5:30pm in the gym High School Track First Practice: February 10 th 4pm-5:30pm @ the Track High School Badminton Tryouts: February 10 th 4pm-5:30pm in the gym

8 Athletic Fees Registration Fee: High School $200 Middle School $100 Uniform Cost: $150 Transportation: $0

10 Tryout Procedures The rules have changed: Most teams will have to make cuts Recreation vs. Competitive Definition We do not have an all play rule

11 Commitment Practice for sports is mandatory HS: 5-6 days a week/ MS: 3-4 days a week Games and Practices may be held on Saturdays, holidays or during vacation

12 Communication Encourage your son or daughter to talk to the coach Set up an appointment if you want to talk to the coach Worst time to try and talk to a coach - Before or after practice - Before or after a game Coaches decide playing time

13 Communication Continued Concerns or questions should be directed to the coach first If the problem cannot be resolved an appointment should be made with the Athletic Director

14 Expectations Students are expected to represent Quarry Lane School during home and away games Students are expected to be at all practices and games Students who are injured are expected to attend all games and practices Please review the Athletic Student Handbook

15 Practice Expectations One (1) unexcused absence: Athlete will not start in the next game Two (2) unexcused absence: Athlete will not play the next game, but will be expected to attend the game, in uniform and sit on the bench Three (3) unexcused absence: Athlete will be removed from the team Note: An excused absence is timely notification to the coach before practice or game All students must maintain a 2.5 gpa Students on Attendance Probation may not participate on sports teams

16 Dropping a Sport Students that drop a sport must do so in writing prior to the first formal game, this excludes scrimmages Transfer students who join late will have 5 days from their first practice to drop the sport Students that drop a sport mid season will not be allowed to participate in the next season of sports

17 What to do if you are cut Try another sport Stay involved in athletics in another way – Team manager – Student Coaching Assistant – Videographer – Statistician – Game Clock operator – Announcer Get involved in other areas of the school work hard and try again next year
