Dear diary, We are in New Orleans, Maria told meshe has some friends here. I hope that they will be able to help me. I have great news. Maria’s friends gave me a job. I’m very happy of that. 3 rd December 18905 th December 1890
Dear diary, During the last months I ‘worked hard so I didn’t have enough time to write. I met a fantastic man,now I’m really happy. I experienced that to live in the USA for an immigrant is really difficult.,but you can get a lot of opportunities. Now, Iearned some money and I decided to open a house to help and support new immigrants and to offer them a better accomodation. I know how they can feel… You are alone… Without any friend… You don’t know the language… And you feel so weak… But you, you must stand up and face the new world… Don’t be afraid of discrimination… Nobody could understand what you felt before arriving… Hope for all the immigrants a better life. Always by your side Chiara 5 th April 1891
