8 This is what we did (do) Started with a basic shed to capitalise on the enthusiasm (with Shire support) A Shed Boss (20hr per week), paid by the Shire Positive focus on men’s health (1/3 meetings) Performance reviews (are we meeting our objectives?) Review of corporate governance Monthly newsletters Monthly excursions Council elections (serendipity?)

9 Success factors Support/patronage Welcoming culture promoted Being embraced by the local community Someone responsible Regular attendance (Shed days, GM’s and other ) Strong, active, motivated committee with deputies Members willing to pitch in Clear objectives Good communications/publicity Satisfactory facility Stimulating programme
