E ACH BOX ON THE P ERIODIC T ABLE GIVES PARTICULAR INFORMATION ABOUT THE ATOMS OF THE ELEMENT. 1 H Hydrogen 1.008 Top number Atomic number = Protons Electrons The chemical symbol is an abbreviation for the element’s name. The name of the element is below the symbol. The number below the name indicates the atomic mass of all the isotopes in the element. To find the number of neutrons, round off the atomic mass. Then, subtract the atomic number.
