4 Trumpet  Made of metal  3 valves  Highest sounding brass instrument

5 Trumpet  Plays in the treble clef  Used to announce things with fanfares  Featured in classical and jazz music

6 French Horn  Made of metal  3 rotary valves.  2 nd highest of the brass family  It is so long they had to curve it around.

7 French Horn  Most active brass instrument in the orchestra  Originated to play calls back and forth between hunters  There are both double and single horns

8 Trombone  3rd highest of the brass family  Plays in Bass Clef  Only member of the brass family that does not have valves  Uses a slide instead

9 Trombone  Standard trombones are known as Tenor Trombones.  There are also Bass Trombones which play even lower than the standard trombone.

10 Tuba  The lowest and biggest of the brass instruments.  Concert Tubas look like the one shown here

11 Tuba  Marching Tubas are called Sousaphones and look like this
