Pants Up National Campaign Cause Marketing Launch Project Why do your wear you pants hung low? What do you think it says about you? What do you want it to say about you? Every generation uses fashion to establish the ”iconography” of their experience. Our goal is to provide a forum for open discussion not to chastise. The purpose of the project is to garner national attention in order to effect real and measurable change in the way urban youth see themselves reflected through the pants hung low hip-hop fashion trend or statement.

1. Docu-drama 60 minute short will carry the message and images of the Civil Rights Movement, racial profiling, and the struggle of Black men to gain equal rights while highlighting the ever-present struggle of black men to find their place in today’s world against the backdrop of racism for national and international distribution to schools, youth organizations, sports leagues, camps and community-based organizations, etc. Our goal is to instill pride and purpose and to encourage urban youth to rethink their message.

Tyshawn you better get up and get ready for school ? Opening Shot : A Black boy Age sleeping in small apt room, we hear his mother yelling off-camera. Tyshawn is sleeping in small apt bedroom. Awakes and begins to dress. A-aight— gettin up. (Tyshawn put on his sneakers & T-shirt and positions his pants down as low as can go and still be able to walk— and turns on the TV)
(Tyshawn sits riveted to the images he sees on the television scene.---”Pants Up Video” (no sound) b- roll. We see a black man in prison stripes slowly walking down a prison hall with handcuffed and in leg irons pants drooping. Film Montage begins will include archival footage of Civil rights Movement, segregation, March on Washington, Black First and trailblazers Malcolm, Martin, Medgar, and other poignant images
The following slides represent what will be a graphic video montage archival footage of famous Black Heroes, Civil Rights Movement, racial profiling, et al. Film will include interviews of young men who wear their pants hung low and pertinent commentary around this trend.
(Tyshawn is so moved by the video images that before he goes out the door this morning he pulls his pants up).
