2 DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATION Capital Improvement Program Capital Improvement Program Maintenance Custodial Environmental Management 2.3 millionsquare feet 631 acres The Department is responsible for the School Division's 27 schools and two service facilities. That is over 2.3 million square feet and 631 acres.

3 Over 40 employees of the Buildings & Grounds Department will work throughout the summer on various tasks including: Mowing/grounds Moving furniture Assisting contractors Carpentry work Electrical work Mechanical work Plumbing work BUILDINGS & GROUNDS

4 Detailed cleaning of ALL schools, ceiling to floor. Floor refinishing Provide services for numerous summer school programs, CAI, YMCA, CFA, Parks & Rec., sports camps, and community building rentals. Over 140 employees of the Custodial Department will work throughout the summer on various tasks including: CUSTODIAL WORK

6 Throughout the summer several ongoing initiatives to reduce water & energy consumption will be underway including: Energy Star site verifications for eligible schools Low-flow sink aerator installations Irrigation control planning Lighting upgrades ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

9 Renovate front wing of Murray High School to accommodate the Enterprise Program Expand Murray High School Science Room into adjacent, unused dark room Renovate Room 20 for the ISAEP Program Remove old classroom lockers in Murray classrooms Relocate ARC to the trailers. ENTERPRISE/ARC/MURRAY HS

12 DESIGN 2015 In support of the Design 2015 Grant program, six schools will receive renovations to support contemporary learning: 1.Albemarle: Writers Lounge 2.Woodbrook: Art Room 3.Hollymead: Art Room & Media Center 4.Meriwether Lewis :Media Center 5.Murray Elementary: Cafeteria & Maker Space 6.Henley: 21 st Century Classrooms

13 JOUETT TENNIS COURTS Renovation of tennis & basketball courts behind Jouett Middle School New paving, fencing, & nets

14 VMF LIFT REPLACEMENT One below ground vehicle lift will be replaced at the Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF). Phase 2 of a multi-year project

15 ASBESTOS REMOVAL Asbestos floor tile will be removed at various classrooms, closets & hallways at 4 schools: Henley MS Jouett MS Walton MS Western Albemarle HS

16 FLOORING REPLACEMENT Flooring replacement will take place of varying scale at the following schools: 1.Albemarle High School 2.Brownsville Elementary School 3.Broadus Wood Elementary School 4.Burley Middle School 5.Henley Middle School 6.Hollymead Elementary School 7.Jack Jouett Middle School 8.Monticello High School. 9.Sutherland Middle School. 10.Stone Robinson Elementary. 11.Walton Middle School 12.Western Albemarle High School

17 PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT Playground equipment will be replaced at Hollymead Elementary School. A new upper grade playground, lower grade playground & swing set will be installed.
