ONCE THE DECKING IS INSTALLED YOU MAY THEN INSTALL THE ROOF WRAPPING OVER THE DECKING. AS ADDITIONAL PROTECTION YOU MAY OPT TO INSTALL RIGID BOARD FOAM INSULATION ON TOP OF THE ROOF WRAPPING; DEPENDING ON YOUR PARTICULAR APPLICATION AS ADDITIONAL PROTECTION YOU MAY OPT TO INSTALL RIGID BOARD FOAM INSULATION ON TOP OF THE ROOF WRAPPING; DEPENDING ON YOUR PARTICULAR APPLICATION

ONCE THE HOUSE IS DRIED IN AND ALL OF THE WIRING AND HVAC IS COMPLETED IT IS TIME TO ADD THE WALL INSULATION. WALL INSULATION COMES IN VARIOUS FORMS FROM STANDARD BATT INSULATION TO SPRAY FOAM INSULATION. EACH HAVE THEIR OWN ATTRIBUTES WALL INSULATION COMES IN VARIOUS FORMS FROM STANDARD BATT INSULATION TO SPRAY FOAM INSULATION. EACH HAVE THEIR OWN ATTRIBUTES WHEN WORKING WITH ANY TYPE OF INSULATION YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EYE GUARD, AND A DUST MASK OF SOME TYPE; ESPECIALLY WITH FIBERGLASS INSULATION WHEN WORKING WITH ANY TYPE OF INSULATION YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EYE GUARD, AND A DUST MASK OF SOME TYPE; ESPECIALLY WITH FIBERGLASS INSULATION UNT in partnership with TEA, Copyright ©. BATT INSULATION COMES IN PRESIZED MATERIAL TO FIT THE STUD CENTERS OF YOUR HOME AS WELL AS THE PROPER THICKNESS OF THE WALL ITSELF. SOME INSULATION COMES WITH A PAPER BACKING WHICH HAS TABS THAT OVERLAP EACH STUD PROVIDING FURTHER SEALING OF THE WALL WHEN FINISHED SOME INSULATION COMES WITH A PAPER BACKING WHICH HAS TABS THAT OVERLAP EACH STUD PROVIDING FURTHER SEALING OF THE WALL WHEN FINISHED

9 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.8 INTERIOR WALL WRAP THIS PROCESS ADDS PROTECTION AGAINST AIR LEAKS THAT COULD NOT BE PROTECTED BY THE EXTERIOR HOUSE WRAP. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN THIS MATERIAL IS APPLIED. DEPENDING ON THE AREA IN WHICH YOU LIVE THE EXTRA INTERIOR PLASTIC WRAP USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE EXTERIOR HOUSE WRAP MAY CREATE A MOISTURE CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT IN BETWEEN THE TWO WRAPS. THIS COULD CAUSE THE STUDS TO ROT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME.

10 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.9 CEILING INSULATION ONCE THE INTERIOR SHEATHING (SHEETROCK, WOOD OR OTHER SHEATHING) HAS BEEN INSTALLED IT IS TIME TO INSULATE THE CEILING. ONE TYPICAL TYPE OF INSULATION IS BLOWN INSULATION. NORMALLY YOU CAN RENT A MACHINE TO BLOW THE INSULATION THROUGH A LARGE FLEXIBLE HOSE INTO THE ATTIC. IN SOME CASES THE SUPPLIER WILL PROVIDE THE MACHINE WHEN YOU PURCHASE THE INSULATION

11 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.10 CEILING INSULATION THE OTHER FORM OF INSULATION IS TYPICALLY ROLL/BATT INSULATION. YOU INSTALL IT BY SIMPLY UNROLLING IT BETWEEN THE CEILING JOISTS ONCE AGAIN MAKE SURE YOU WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR AND CLOTHING WHEN WORKING WITH ANY INSULATION

THE AREAS SHOULD BE CHECKED IN AN EXISTING HOME TO MAKE SURE UNDESIRED HEAT OR COLD IS NOT COMING THROUGH TO THE HOME INTERIOR. MANY HOMEOWNERS HAVE FOUND THAT THEY IMPACTED THEIR ENERGY COSTS BY AS MUCH AS 50% SIMPLY BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE

13 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.12 HOME ENERGY CONSERVATION IN REVIEW THE EXTERIOR OF A NEW HOME CAN BE PREPARED WITH RIGID FOAM BOARD AND EXTERIOR HOUSE WRAP TO AID IN INSULATING THE HOME THE ROOF OF THE HOME MAY BE TREATED IN MUCH THE SAME WAY WITH SIMILAR WRAPPING AND RIGID FOAM BOARD

14 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.13 HOME ENERGY CONSERVATION IN REVIEW THE INTERIOR OF THE EXTERIOR WALLS MAY BE INSULATED WITH BATT OR FOAM INSULATION AND THEN COVERED WITH AN INTERIOR PLASTIC WRAP

15 Copyright © Texas Education Agency, All rights reserved.14 HOME ENERGY CONSERVATION IN REVIEW THE ENVIRONMENT WHERE THE HOUSE IS BUILT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE YOU WRAP THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF YOUR HOME THE ATTIC IS INSULATED WITH EITHER FOAM, BATT OR BLOWN IN INSULATION. THERE IS NO NEED FOR A WRAP OF ANY SORT ON THE CEILING IF THE ROOF HAS BEEN WRAPPED CARE SHOULD ALWAYS BE TAKEN BY WEARING PROPER CLOTHING AND DUST MASKS WHEN WORKING WITH ANY TYPE OF INSULATION
