4 Public Works Mission Statement The Mission of the Department of Public Works is to provide high quality services, products, and protection of County infrastructure through design, construction, maintenance, and operation in an efficient, effective, and safe manner for the people of Tehama County

5 Public Works Vision Statement We are a department which is fully capable of meeting all of it’s planning, engineering, operating, maintenance, and administrative needs in a highly competent manner, and which maintains a positive work environment where opportunities exist for self improvement and individuals are recognized for their achievements and contributions to the people of Tehama County

11 Engineering Personnel; 9 fulltime staff Senior Civil Engineer, Chief Surveyor 1 Civil Engineer, 6 Engineering Technicians Responsibilities Provides support and direction for county road, bridge, and traffic functions Support and direction regarding pavement inspection and design Environmental issues, Right of Way concerns, Transportation and Encroachment Permitting, Land Development Review, Surveying and Mapping, Project Development, and Construction Management Activities

16 Road District Maintenance Responsibilities Road Districts Each Road District is staffed with PW Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, 7 PW Maintenance Workers Tehama County maintains approximately 1,100 road miles Responsibilities include: pothole patching, digouts, crack sealing, gutter cleaning, tree maintenance, shoulder repair, paving, chip seal, culvert cleaning/replacement, gravel road grading, litter pickup, snow removal, road inspection, drainage maintenance/repair Traffic Signage, repair and replacement; 8,900 signs, 375 miles of striping, 8,800 reflective pavement markers, 500 pavement legends, 5,000 bridge delineators Pavement Marking and Striping Gravel Mining Operations; excavation, screening, crushing, hauling material

17 Fleet Maintenance

18 Responsible for the maintenance and repair of over 140 pieces of heavy equipment and vehicles Provides overall fleet service for department Routine service, engine overhaul/replacement, heavy equipment repair and servicing Manages fleet size, equipment and vehicle needs Pickups, sedans, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, trailers, graders, paving box, asphalt zipper, scraper, tractors, dozers, forklift, specialized equipment, rollers, boom truck, large equipment transport trucks and trailers Administers the fuel island including, tanks, hose and filler apparatus, and fuel logs Administers the California Air Resources Board requirements for compliance with state statutes Administers the Storm Water Pollution Control Permit program for the Corporation Yard

19 Bridge Maintenance Personnel: 4 Fulltime Staff Bridge Crew includes: Public Works Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, 3 PW Maintenance Workers Maintenance of 697 bridge and large culvert facilities 442 bridges with guardrail and approach rails 77 box culverts with guardrails and approach rails 22 truss bridges with guardrails and approach rails 28 concrete slab crossings Responsibilities include: accident repair, structural repair, steel deck replacement, guard rail and approach rail repair, bridge and slab inspection, storm damage repair, building maintenance

22 Transportation Personnel; 2 Fulltime Staff Deputy Director – Transportation, 1 Transportation Planners Responsibilities include: Project Planning, Programming, and Monitoring of Regional Transportation Improvement Funds Transit Operations; TRAX and METS Regional Transportation Planning Agency County Liaison for: California Transportation Commission, Rural Counties Task Force, Division of Mass Transit, California Department of Transportation, and Federal Highway Administration

23 Provide administrative and executive assistance for the Tehama County Transportation Commission, Transit Agency Board, and Social Service Transportation Advisory Council Coordinate and Administer department Geographic Information System planning and implementation Transportation
