2 EXPLORING THE INTERFACE Intro to Blackboard Collaborate

3 Moderator User Interface You can detach the panels and move them anywhere on the screen.

4 Test your Audio with the Audio Setup Wizard A good rule of thumb is to include a reminder on the opening page of your meeting for participants to check their audio settings. Check your audio settings now!

5 Edit your Profile Participants can edit their profile to add information about themselves. This includes the ability to display a picture in the participants area. Try adding some information to your profile

6 Familiarise New Participants with Tools Include a simple activity at the beginning of a meeting to prompt the participants to use the tools. Jump on the mic and say hello. green red Select the green Checkmark if you can hear the presenter and the red if you can’t.

7 Questions and Comments Hand Raise Use the Hand Raise button to request a microphone to ask a question or make a comment. Chat Use Chat to type in your question or comment for everyone to see.

10 Participant Permissions Moderators can enable and disable tools for participants globally or individually. X If the tool is disabled you will see a X over the symbol. See what happens when I turn these off…

11 Activity and Status Indicators Status indicators notify you of participant delays in receiving a display. Activity indicators will show you the tools that a participant is using.

12 Polling for Participant Feedback Moderators can ask Yes/No polls or Multiple Choice polls with up to five (ABCDE) choices. What is your favourite letter? Select an option now… A B C D E?

14 Display Modes: Whiteboard You can use your Whiteboard tools to annotate and mark up a blank Whiteboard or a Whiteboard with content. Try experimenting with these tools now.

15 Display Modes: Web Tour The Web Tour enables moderators and participants to share web pages with others in the session.

16 Display Modes: Application Sharing Use Application Sharing to show an application loaded on your computer to others in the room. If you allow it, they can take control and work on it as a shared document.

18 Creating and Modifying a Session A Lecturer, Teaching Assistant or Site Builder can create Blackboard Collaborate Sessions from a Subject Site in iLearn. Let’s take a look…

19 Linking to Sessions and Recordings A link for student access can be added directly from any Content Area in an iLearn site.

20 Recording a Session Sessions can be recorded automatically based on the time of the session (applied during setup). Sessions can also be manually recorded from within the session.
