 This is an introductory session for those who have never used Facebook (for business) or who are just getting started with the tool.

Facebook is here to stay! More than 500 million ACTIVE users. Don’t want to miss the opportunity to interact with your potential clients. Small businesses no longer need $$$ to talk with consumers. You have direct access to potential clients for “free” Tell stories about successful moves, show photos of your cutest pets, listen to your customers’ ideas, announce new services, tell people about awards you’ve won (IPATA’s Millie Woolf or Excellence Award??), provide give-aways, host contests…..there is no limit to what you can do here!

 Profiles are for people, Pages are for businesses  Multiple admins  Anyone can like your page (as compared to getting approval for friends) First step: At www.facebook.com, sign up for a free Facebook account. Facebook will send you an email verification afterwards.

Next: Once you are logged into Facebook, you can create a page: https://www.facebook.com/pages /create.php https://www.facebook.com/pages /create.php

Setting up your page Next 3 steps: 1.Select a profile picture. I recommend using your company logo! 2.Fill out the “About” section. What services does your company provide? Give your URL and even a phone number. 3.They will ask you to enable ads. Advertising your page can be beneficial but I recommend waiting until you get going with Facebook.

 You are now ready to post and start building your community!  Your name will not appear, it will be the company name.  Post a variety of content: ◦ Photos ◦ Videos ◦ Event information ◦ Pet shipping tips ◦ Polls ◦ News on heat embargoes, etc. ◦ Ask questions  You want to engage current fans but you will also be increasing your reach to their friends and communities (other potential clients!)

 When a client is happy about a move, have them write a testimonial for your Facebook page & share with their friends!

 Always, always, always respond to people  Be interactive, fun, and helpful  Treat them nicely (offer discounts or special deals for being fans)  Don’t use it for 100% self promotion. People get turned off by that.

 Reaching new customers  Connecting and engaging with customers and potential customers  Promote your services  Announce new services  Provide educational tools and information  Be a resource  Generate leads!
