Presentation on theme: "The Muscles: Muscles are made of thin protein fibres in the body. They pull on the joints, allowing us to move. Muscles are connected to bones by cords,"— Presentation transcript:

1 The Muscles: Muscles are made of thin protein fibres in the body. They pull on the joints, allowing us to move. Muscles are connected to bones by cords, called tendons. Tendons allow the muscles to pull on bones, like a puppet master can pull the strings on a puppet to make it move. Wiggle your fingers. You can see the tendons on the back of your hand as they work.

2 What else about Muscles? The human body has more than 650 muscles! This makes up half of a person's body weight! Muscles also help your body with other functions- to grow and remain strong. Even chewing food and digesting it!

3 How can we keep our muscles healthy? Eat healthy foods rich in iron, Vitamin K and protein. Drink lots of water to help the blood flow to the muscles quickly. Exercise every day to grow and keep muscles strong. Be careful not to hurt a muscle when you play. Remember to have a good nights sleep.
