Opower Confidential6 Setting the default template To save time, you can set an Opower template as the default for starting new files. Open the.potx file you wish to use as the default template. On the Design tab under Themes, click on the Themes drop-down and select Save Current Theme. Under File name, replace Theme1.thmx with the name of the Opower template and click Save. On the Design tab, click Themes drop-down again. Then right-click on the icon of the Custom Theme you just saved and select Set as Default Theme. Now when you start a new presentation, the default Opower template opens automatically. IMPORTANT: When you start a new presentation after setting the Opower template as the default, you will not see any of the sample slides provided in the template. Save.potx file as a Theme Right-click on icon and select Set as Default Theme

Opower Confidential7 Inserting slides from another presentation First, open an existing presentation. Click on the Slide Sorter button at the bottom right to easily view all of the slides in your presentation. Select the slides you want to copy. –To select all slides, type Ctrl+A. To select slides out of sequence, hold the Ctrl key as you click on slides. Type Ctrl+C to copy the selected slides. Open the new template. 8 Opower Confidential8 Inserting slides from another presentation (cont.) Adjusting your pasted slide in the new template. Some elements of the old template may carry over with your pasted slide. Fix this by applying a layout from the new template to your slide (see slide 10 – Appling slide layouts). You may still need to make manual adjustments to fonts, colors, and the placement of slide elements.

Opower Confidential9 Inserting slides from another aspect ratio Follow the instructions on slides 7–8 to copy and paste slides from a 4:3 presentation into the 16:9 template. A 4:3 slide pasted into a widescreen 16:9 template may appear centered on the slide with gaps on the left and right. You’ll need to perform some manual clean-up: To restore the titles and bullets to the correct position, reapply the slide layout (see slide 10 – Applying slide layouts). If necessary, reposition text and slide graphics to better fit the widescreen 16:9 slide. Some photos may need to be resized and / or cropped (see slide 13 – Cropping and resizing photos). 10 Opower Confidential10 Applying slide layouts The Opower presentation template provides 18 slide layouts that you can apply at any time to new or existing slides. To apply a slide layout: On the Home tab under Slides, click on Layout (or right-click on a blank part of the slide and select Layout). Select any of the layouts to apply the formatting to the current slide. You can also click on New Slide and select a layout for a new slide. To reapply slide formatting, click Reset. You may still need to make manual adjustments to fonts, colors, and the placement of slide elements. New Slide, Layout, and Reset buttons Four photo layouts provide picture placeholders for inserting photos

Opower Confidential11 Using the photo slide layouts The photo slide layouts provide picture placeholders for quick photo insertion. Use one of the four photo slide layout samples or apply a photo slide layout to a new or existing slide (see slide 10 – Applying slide layouts). Click on the center icon inside the white box, navigate to your photo and click Insert. If the photo appears cut off on the sides, use the Crop tool to reposition the photo left or right within the photo frame (see slide 14 – Cropping and resizing photos). IMPORTANT: The Opower logo and confidentiality statement + slide number need to be visible on top of inserted photos (see the next two slides 12–13 – Placing footers on top of photos). Center icon Insert Picture dialog boxPhoto #2 layout with inserted photo Photo #2 layout

Opower Confidential12 Placing footers on top of photos After inserting a photo on a photo layout slide, you may not see the Opower logo (left-side photos) or footer (right-side photos). If you have a light photo, copy the GRAY logo or footer from this slide and paste it into your slide. If you have a dark photo, copy the WHITE logo or footer from the next slide and paste it into your slide. The footer will paste in the correct position. 13 Opower Confidential13 Placing footers on top of photos (cont.) If you have a dark photo, copy the WHITE logo or footer from this slide and paste it into your slide. 15 Opower Confidential15 Inserting charts The easiest way to add a chart to your presentation is to copy a pre-formatted chart from the Opower template, then edit the data. Copy and paste the sample charts: The three sample charts in the Opower template (bar, line and pie charts) use Opower Brand Colors in the correct order and contain the preferred formatting for charts. Select one of the charts, then copy and paste it onto a slide in your presentation. To edit the chart data: Right-click on the chart and select Edit Data. You also can click on the chart to activate the Chart Tools tab. Under Charts Tools select the Design tab, then click on Edit Data.

Opower Confidential16 Editing chart colors To edit the chart color: Click on the series you want to edit. –On a bar chart, a single click will select the all the same color bars; a second click will select a single bar. –On a pie chart, a single click will select the entire pie; a second click will select a single pie slice. After the item is selected, go to Shape Fill to select the color you want. Go to Shape Outline to change colors on a line chart.

Opower Confidential17 Best practices for charts How to create simple and meaningful charts. The sample charts have been designed for clarity and visual appeal. They use the preferred colors and formatting for Opower presentations. Start with these and edit their data to match yours. Use color to highlight the most important information. Include a legend or labels for data series and a source for all data. Include either a vertical axis or labels for each data point so users can quickly understand the data. Do not use gridlines unless they are absolutely necessary.

Opower Confidential18 Best practices for charts (cont.) To add gridlines to your chart: Click on the chart to bring up the Chart Tools menu, then select the Design tab. Select Add Chart Element > Gridlines and choose the horizontal or vertical lines as needed.

Opower Confidential19 Setting animations How to add animation to your bullets, photo or object. Select the slide element you wish to animate. Click on the Animations tab and choose the animation you want from the Animation library. To see more options, click Add Animation under Advanced Animation. 20 Opower Confidential20 To create sequential animations for special effects. You can create interesting effects by applying more than one animation to the same object. Select an object and apply an animation. With the object still selected, choose Add Animation to add an additional animation to the same object. Adjust settings for Start, Duration and Delay so that the animations play in sequence as desired. Setting animations (cont.) Sequential animations Example: To see how this can work, view this slide in Slide Show mode. The example uses Basic Zoom + Move + Pulse animations.

Opower Confidential21 Setting slide transitions How to change the slide transition. The Fade transition is the default and should be retained unless there is a specific need for certain slides. Select the slide, click on the Transitions menu and choose the transition you want. Select Apply To All under Timing to apply the same transition to every slide. It is best to keep consistent transitions throughout a presentation. Fade transition effectApply To All
