2 Troy’s beginning… Troy Zach Washington was born January 30 in Katy, Texas. Troy is born to the parents of Catherine Washington and Tim Washington. Troy was the third boy to be born in the Washington family with one younger sister. Troy’s parents Catherine Washington was a successful financial analyst and also earned a MBA. Where she owned her own clothing store in Katy. Tim Washington earned his degree in chemical engineering but decided he wanted to pursue ministry. He was the head preacher at Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. Troy came from a high SES.

3 Troy’s Childhood (2-10) Troy grew up being a normal boy he and his brothers grew up to love sports and were very active. He grew up with two older brothers and one younger sister He was raised in a Mormon with his father being a preacher at Houston Texas Temple The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His family was very known in the community in Katy.

4 Troy Middle School years (11-14) Troy focused heavily on sports and didn’t focus on girls like many of his fellow classmates and teammates. Troy was focused on succeding in football, basketball and baseball hw didn’t take the time to focus on girls.

5 Troy high school years (14-18) Troy was still heavily involved in sports at Katy High School but he noticed he had an attraction to the same sex Troy had his first sexual encounter with a guy from his school. Troy enjoyed the sexual relationship and continued to see the boy. The boy wanted Troy to come out to his parents, teammates and friends. Troy didn’t want to come out because he knew the circumstances with his father being a known preacher in the community. The boy threatened to tell his parents if he didn’t tell his parents. Troy went to his counselor for help and she referred him to H.A.T.C.H before he came out to his parents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7rIAiJTho4 H.A.T.C.H Mission Hatch Youth is dedicated to empowering lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual and allied (LGBTQIA) youth, ages 13-20, to become positive contributors to society by providing a safe social environment, offering role models and peer support, and sponsoring educational and community outreach opportunities.

6 Troy coming out (17) The middle of junior year Troy confessed to his parents that he was attracted to the same sex and was sexual involved with a guy from his high school. Troy’s parents were strongly upset. His father was upset and severly beat Troy. He took Troy out of school and flew him to Ecuador to the program Puente a la Vida or Bridge to Life.

7 Puente a la vida or Bridge to Life Troy was abused while in the treatment center. Troy was miserable while in the treatment and resented his parents for sending him there. Before senior year started his parents toook him out of the treatment center.

8 Troy (18-24 years old) Troy finished up his senior still heavily involved in sports. He earned a football scholarship to University at Texas Austin. He also met his new girlfriend Linda senior year and she attended UT with Troy. He was a chick magnet while in college with him being a popular athelte at UT. He was sexually involved with other women while with Linda but he felt empty inside. Linda became pregnant there junior year of college with twin girls and he married Linda after the birth of the twin girls. Troy was severely depressed with him still having attraction to men. Troy started experimenting with the same sex again and he felt like himself. 6 months after being married troy filed for divorce from Linda. After divorcing Linda, Troy told his parents that he was homosexual and he was happy. His parents cut all ties with him but still kept in contact with Linda and the twin girls. At 23, Troy graduated from UT with his bachelors degree in business management. Following graduation Troy met a man named Tom. He fell in love with Tom and became partners. Him and Tom fly to New York where they are married due to marriage not being legalized in Texas.

10 Troy (25-36years old) Troy has become married to Tom and happily living in Austin with his new husband. Him and Tom are very successful. Tom is heavily involved in the twins life with Troy, Linda is supportive of the relationship and happy for Troy. At 35 Troy starts to notice differences in his testes. Troy visits his doctor and he informs Troy he has testicular cancer which he inherited from his grandfather on his mother’s side. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men 15-34 years of age. The two main types of testicular tumors are seminoma and nonseminoma. Nonseminomas tend to grow and spread more quickly than seminomas. Troy undergoes treatment for the cancer but the treatment doesn’t help Troy. Tom quits his job and takes care of Troy full time. Troy is becoming very ill as each day passes by…

11 Troy’s death Troy makes his finally will before his death leaving everything to Tom and the twins. Twins also should remain with joint custody with Linda. He leaves all of his property and investment to Tom and the twin girls. The twin girls inherit half of their money now and the rest of it at the age of 18. Troy passes away at the age of 38. Troy puts in his will that he wish to be cremated and ashes to spread on his property in Lake Travis. Troy parents appears into the picture and demands to take custody of the twins and for Troy to be buried. Catherine and Tim take Tom to court for the custody of the twins and for 25% of Troy’s finances, investments and properties. The judge overules the parents and Tom is rewarded with all of Troy’s assets as well as the twins. The judge also lets Linda and Tom have joint custody of the twins.
