CORRECT!!!

INCORRECT!

EXTENSION QUESTIONS  Choose 6 different skills from different sports and create a continuum that shows whether those skills are open or closed.  What is a ‘closed’ skill & how is it different from an ‘open’ one?  When we are at the cognitive stage of learning why do we rely heavily on our teacher/coach?  What is the difference between whole & part practice?  Explain the PPE process. ANSWERS

EXAM QUESTIONS 1.Age can affect a performers level of skill. Give 1 other factor that affects the level of skill. (1 mark) 2.Give 2 features of a ‘closed skill’.(2 marks) 3.Give 3 components of skill.(3 marks) 4.Why is practice important in improving skill performance & give a type of training that will improve skill?(4 marks) 5.Input is 1 component of information processing. Name 2 others.(2 marks) 6.Briefly explain what is meant by the term ‘skill’.(1 mark) ANSWERS

EXTENSION ANSWERS  (Refer to the skill power point & your teacher)  CLOSED SKILLS – These are needed when the environment isn’t going to change much. This allows us to be in control of the situation, like a vault in gymnastics. Equipment is fixed & there is no influence from others or the weather. OPEN SKILLS – Used in games like football, netball & lacrosse which is outside with many players. This makes outcomes uncertain. We have to take into account our players, their players, pitch surface, speed of the ball & the weather. These skills are needed when you cannot control what is going to happen next.  We need to rely heavily on our teacher/coach as we cannot correct our own faults as we don’t know what they are. We need to be given; Clear demonstrations, simple instructions, short practise time & positive praise for correct action  Whole is when you practise the entire skill in one go e.g throwing a tennis ball up for a serve, moving your racket & hitting the ball. Part is when you practice just part of a skill e.g the throwing of the ball for a tennis serve.  PLANNING - what am I trying to do PERFORMING - Is my performance successful / unsuccessful EVALUATING- If it was good repeat, if done badly do better next time & if it’s wrong don’t do it again.

EXAM ANSWERS 1.Experience, feedback, guidance, physical ability. 2.The performer is in control & there is little or no environmental influence. 3.Learned, coordinated, aesthetic, fluent, goal directed, consistent, efficient, successful & effective. 4.Skill will be refined & become more consistent. We will make fewer errors & start to correct our own mistakes using internal & external feedback e.g circuit training using sports skills. 5.Decision, output, feedback. 6.The learned ability to choose & perform the right techniques at the right time with maximum certainty, efficiency and consistency.
