· Occurred on September 11th, 2001 · The evening after the 9/11 terrorist attacks · Attacks brought down both twin towers in NYC. · Another plane hit the Pentagon · They also attempted an attack on Washington D.C. · Most devastating attack on American soil in today’s modern society.

· Comfort/reassure the American People · Offer condolences · Send a message to the terrorists · Gain support for a war against the terrorists (unify Americans as well as other nations)

· Repetition of emotionally powerful words -”America” -”Freedom” -”Strength” · Powerful statements throughout speech · Takes a very clear stance on how we’ll respond to the terrorists
