6 Rec Coach Meeting Practice Schedule Coaches must submit their preferred practices days and times to CSA. CSA will assign teams fields, days and times. Teams which provide field stripers will be given priority. Coaches must be willing to share fields with other teams.

7 Rec Coach Meeting U6 (Formerly Muppets) Season starts - 4/13 & 4/14 Wednesdays or Thursdays - 5:30 -6:30 pm – no additional practices 1st 30 minutes => drills 2 nd 30 minutes => scrimmages Volunteer Coach to Contact players by 3/18 Coaches Lucas Baker, Ricardo Diaz and Joe Higgins will run sessions. Volunteer Coach to help with scrimmage.

8 Rec Coach Meeting U8 –U14 Season starts – April 4th One practice a week - coached by CSA professional trainers – benefits both players AND coaches – all highly encouraged to attend and participate with the professional trainers! TUESDAYS on the following dates: 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/3, 5/10 & 5/17 U8 & U12: 4:30 – 5:30 U10 & U14: 5:30-6:30 Coaches should schedule two practices per week. One can be the skill sessions provided by CSA professional trainers. Consider practicing with other teams of same age group.

9 Rec Coach Meeting U8 –U14 Continued Contact players no later than Friday, March 18 U10-U14 – Alithsa Tournament. Make sure to notify parents of tournament as soon as possible. Be prepared to play on both Saturday & Sunday May 14 th & 15 th. Last day of U8 season - “Jamboree” mini tournament of 3x20 minutes games. Fun day for the kids! June 4th Fall 2016 Introduce Throw Ins for U8 (Practice now)

10 Rec Coach Meeting Alithsa Tournament May 14/15 Paid within the fees ALL U10-U14 Teams Team Waivers need to be completed by 4/22 CSA will handle registration Two Day Tournament-Both Saturday and Sunday

11 Rec Coach Meeting Schedules U6/U8 schedules created in-house U10,U12 & U14 Schedules – Northwest Recreational Soccer League http://nrslsoccer.org/sites/nrslsoccer/home Note - that the league creates the schedules for U10-U14 - limited control on when we get them – expected by 3/26 League Rules - on CSA website

12 Rec Coach Meeting Cancelling/Rescheduling Games U8 Arrange a date & time with the other team’s coach Contact: Adam Pashley to cancel/reschedule referees and schedule field rental adam.pashley@carysoccer.org Games should only be rescheduled as a LAST RESORT!

14 Rec Coach Meeting Sportsmanship/Code of Conduct/Slaughter Rule Lopsided games and winning by 5 or more goals: Sub players Players pass three times before shooting on goal Players pass/shoot with opposite foot Remove a player from field Please do these things in a way to let the other team SAVE FACE!

15 Rec Coach Meeting Referees Ron Logan – CSA Ref Assignor – ron.logan@carysoccer.org or 847-516-9160ron.logan@carysoccer.org Please treat ALL referees (regardless of age) with respect! Sometimes questionable calls will be made – BUT – the referee’s call is FINAL!

16 Rec Coach Meeting Safety IYSA Medical Waivers: Players must fill out and hand in on the first night of practice – TO YOU. Has all the emergency contact information…just in case! First Aid Kits – Coaches U8 and up - basic first aid kits in equipment bags with band aids, ice-packs etc. U6 – first aid kits in shed at Kaper Park Bad Weather – Field status will be updated on our website (usually by 4pm). If fields are CLOSED we will email all the coaches – email players. Lightning – Seek safe spot and stay with players until all picked up by parents.

17 Rec Coach Meeting Injury Protocol 1. Try to assess injury 2. Possibility of concussion - do NOT let the player return to practice/game 3. Contact parent to let them know of injury 4. Notify Cary Soccer of injury (admin@carysoccer.org) 5. Follow up next day to see how player is doing 6. If the player sees a Dr/ER room for injury, contact admin@carysoccer.org to complete injury report for the league admin@carysoccer.org 7. Athletico – complimentary injury/concussion screenings

18 Rec Coach Meeting Equipment Bags Assigned & items inventoried at the end of each season Contact Amy Arnieri with questions – admin@carysoccer.org Bags include: Sports Authority Coupons for players Pinnies, Cones, Clipboard, 1 st Aid Kit, Goalie Gloves, Goalie Jersey, Official game ball, 1 practice ball, air pump Turned in on the last day of the season

19 Rec Coach Meeting Uniforms CSA jersey Players provide their own black shorts, black socks, shin guards and soccer shoes/cleats. No jewelry or earrings! Players should bring their own ball to practice.

20 Rec Coach Meeting National F License Great for new & returning coaches - License good forever! $25 fee - CSA Reimbursement Policy – contact DOC 15 days prior to taking course for approval Complete 1 season as coach - submit receipt & copy of license certificate to finance@carysoccer.org for $25 reimbursementfinance@carysoccer.org http://www.ussoccer.com/coaching- education/licenses/national-f http://www.ussoccer.com/coaching- education/licenses/national-f Will be required for all rec coaches starting in the Fall 2016
