4 Track Construction Opportunity Practice at High School In the process of making accommodations and waiting to hear about funding Will have some practices at nearby track, dates to be determined Practice times will remain the same

5 Season Prep Sprinters, Jumpers and Throwers need to be in weight room 3 days a week Distance - RUN! RUN! RUN! - Build your aerobic base NOW! – –Get off the treadmill and run outside – –Acclimate your body to outside temps – –Helps reduce early season injuries (e.g., shin splints) – –Be prepared to RUN outside everyday! **First week of practice - Time trial for distance

6 What You Will Need Running ShoesCompetition Shoes Practice clothes – Including sweatpants and sweatshirt Water Bottle Notebook Own lock for your locker Swimsuit & Towel

7 What You Will Need - Distance Good training shoes & running socks (think socks for cold temps) – –If your shoes were used during CC season, THEY ARE TOO OLD! Dress in layers – –Base layer (synthetic material wicks moisture - “cotton is rotten”) – –Warmth layer – polar fleece shirt (helps absorb moisture, keeps body heat in) – –Wind breaker (protection layer against wind and rain/snow) – –Tights/leggings or running pants/sweats (preferably with wind- block material) – –Hat & Gloves – –Wristwatch for pacing/timing of workouts River Valley Running here in Shakopee offers discounts (next to Chuck and Don’s)

8 PRACTICE 3:30 – 5:30 Daily, M-Fri 9:00 AM Sat practice Attendance is mandatory Expected to be on time Notify your head coach prior to a missed practice An unexcused missed practice equals a meet missed

9 Morning Weight Training Grades 10-12: 6:30 AM and 7:15 AM sessions starting WEEK TWO 9 th grade: Will lift at the High School before practice from 3:05-3:25 Attendance at these sessions will be treated the same as practice

10 Meet Days Athletes will be leaving school early for several meets – it is up to the student to take care of missed class time and assignments Athletes are expected to be in attendance the entire duration of every meet Athletes not competing in home meets are expected to work the meets
