11 Pool Supervisor (continued) Public Relations –Promotion of Programs (Advertising) –Liaison with Management (Town), Public, Schools, Other Clients Garner Input –Receive input from staff, customers, management, etc to establish such items as policy, rates, schedules, program content, reports Reporting –Produce reports as required for town and outside agencies (eg monthly, year end)

12 Lifeguard Ensure all equipment is in place and ready to be used before each shift Constant surveillance of patrons Enforce rules to prevent accidents but be cognizant of PR/Education Be ready to activate emergency procedures Maintain deck and pool areas in clean and orderly manner Timely water tests If a junior guard is on deck, you are responsible for their area as well as your own

14 Instructors Complete long term/daily planning to make your classes informative and fun Ensure all equipment/other supplies are ready to be used before each shift Establish and maintain routines to ensure safe classes Run your classes so the students’ opportunities to improve are optimized and everyone (including you) has fun

15 Instructors (continued) Be ready to activate emergency procedures Clean up the deck and pool areas after your classes-return equipment and supplies to their assigned spot Complete all paperwork as required

22 Maintenance Complete all maintenance as required on the checklists Complete other maintenance as required Assist with inventory of cleaning supplies Return equipment and supplies at end of duties Ensure all safety equipment is used as required and returned to its designated spot

24 Other From time to time, casual staff may be hired to assist with a specific program eg School Program or Special Events Perform the duties as outlined for the specific program Assist with other areas of operations of pool as required Be in uniform while in office Be a responsible member of the [name of pool] Team Your position is not supervisory – if you have concerns with other staff, you are to bring these to the attention of the Supervisor

25 Uniform All staff receive T-shirt, shorts from the pool if they don’t already have one On deck staff also receive whistle All staff must provide their own swim suit and on deck footwear Staff must provide clothing suitable for maintenance All other tops and shorts must be approved prior to wearing on deck or in the office

26 Uniform (continued) When working on deck (instructing or guarding), staff are required to wear Pool T-shirt or other approved tops, shorts, swim suit, whistle as the situation requires When working in office, staff are required to wear Pool T-shirt or other approved tops, and shorts When performing maintenance, Pool T-shirts and shorts are not to be worn if they could be stained, discolored, or otherwise damaged

27 Uniforms (continued) All parts of the deck/office uniform are to be kept in clean and orderly condition Staff will be required to purchase replacement for lost or damaged uniform parts Uniform is for staff, not their friends/family Just a reminder of potential legal ramifications of wearing apparel with words such as “Lifeguard”, “Guard”, “Pool Staff” when not at [name of pool]

28 Safety Equipment All staff will be issued a pair of safety glasses, and a dust mask There are two chemical masks available There are several types of gloves available There is a full protective suit as well as boots and a protective apron

29 Safety Equipment Safety Equipment is to be worn as required for the job at hand Safety Equipment is to be returned to its assigned place after usage. WHMIS labels are in place – be cognizant of the chemicals we use Follow safe handling rules for chemicals Be ready to activate emergency procedures

30 [name of pool] Team All staff are members of the [name of pool] Team but each has different responsibilities We must all be ready and willing to carry out our responsibilities If we don’t, often times, someone else has to pick up the slack We must be ready to assist others when our duties are complete Be ready to provide ideas and other input
