2 Pronoun Changing She said, “I will go to a party.” They said, “We have finished the cleaning.” She said, “I will come this morning.” He said, “These books are mine.” She said she would go to a party. They said they had finished the cleaning. She said she would go that morning. He said those books were his.

3 (that) + tense changing do/does – did am/is/are doing – was/were doing has/have done – had done will do – would do am/is/are going to do – was/were going to do did – had done

4 (that) + tense changing Ms. Wu said, “class begins.” Miss. Guo said, “class 1 has done a good job.” The geography teacher said, “the earth goes around the sun.” $$ Ms. Wu said (that) class began. Miss. Guo said (that) class 1 had done a good job. The geography teacher said the earth goes around the sun. $$

5 Other Changing ( Verb & Modifier) Verb: come – go She said, “I will come here this evening.” She said she would go there that evening.

6 Modifier (place): here – there He said, “My sister was here three days ago.” He said his sister had been there three days before.

7 Modifier (time) now – then today – that day yesterday – the day before tomorrow – the next day

8 Modifier (time) He said, “It is nine o’clock now.” He said, “I haven’t seen her today.” She said, “I went there yesterday.” She said, “I’ll go there tomorrow.” He said it was nine o’clock then. He said he hadn’t seen her that day. She said she had gone there the day before. She said she would go there the next (following) day.
